Laurie also opened early on the Friday before a Wembley final, so we could get a tray of fresh pies to take on the train. Then we'd go to the Chicken Shop in South Street and get a tray of barbecue chickens and ham shanks. We usually needed a couple of BR sack barrows to ferry all the ale down the platform to the train. I loved the look on the faces of all the businessmen as we climbed aboard the Pullman.

We always took bin liners with us though and bagged up all the garbage before we left

I think the pie shop in south st you mention also had cracking steak and kidney pies,but hydes were different class.

remember dressing up as mr blobby for a boulevard kids meeting once were des hasler was special guest.after worshipping him as he walked on the stage i went proper blobby mental leaping about and finished by putting him a head lock.don't think he had a clue what was going on and who the hell mr blobby was .had to avoid him for rest of the night after got out of suit in fear he would notice my shoes and know it was me.when i saw him rip that changing room door off at manly i think it was the right choice

I've always said that if I win a substantial amount of money I wouldn't invest it in the club, but would build us our own purpose built stadium with a mixture of standing and seating. Something along the lines of Langtree Park would be perfect.
