| Dislocated my thumb and broke forefinger on same hand trying to grab a loose ball that a Heworth player tried to kick at same time, the pain was intense and the thumb never quite right again

I'm guessing you also got a bang on the head at some point too?
I've broken three fingers playing. The worst one being the little finger on my left hand, dislocated at a joint, then broken just above it. It ended up overlapping my middle finger. Still has a 'kink' in it and the joints don't work. No major injuries for me so far (touch wood).

| My lad broke his finger in 2 places playing in a semi-final, got it strapped up & carried on then got his nose broke and carried on and they won the game, sadly he missed the final as his finger was operated on a few days later.
Saw an 18 yr old playing a couple of weeks ago and he twisted and dislocated his knee cap, it was not a pretty sight and the poor lad was in agony, he did well though, and when he got to hospital they put it back in...ouch!
Both my little fingers were broke playing netball..and chipped my ankle in hockey, many moons ago.

| Not rugby but playing football tore my ACL and carried on with the game. Wasn't until about an hour after when I could not move my leg and not see my kneecap. Never the same again even after 10 years.
I would happily tear it again than rupture a ball.

had my jaw broken by a pool cue in a ships crew bar brawl with Russian navy lads in Hong Kong, (some sleezy joint in Portland Street with a stripper on the table while you play) so i feel for you there mate , luckily I was asleep immediately from it so didnt suffer the same pain you did i bet!! at least i got a flight back to Brem out of it LOL

All men are created equal, some work harder in preseason.

| not me, or rugby, but my mate came off his bike a couple of years ago when we were 15 and broke his back in 4 places, as well as needing stitches all over his face and a fractured arm. He went over his handlebars in Hessle country park dirt jump track on a small jump (he still swears it was 4 foot high with a 10 foot drop in). He still managed to get up and walk across a field to a hotel car park where the ambulance was.
This was the first week of the summer holidays so he spent his whole summer in bed and had to cancel a family holiday. When he'd recovered he got told he'd never pass his boxing medical again due to him having had major surgery so he decided to take up mixed martial arts, still has back trouble but soldiers on and is fit as a fiddle.
his dad's ex 'special forces' so I guess it's in his blood

| Not long after I joined the army I saw a lad being beasted at the guard room, being forced to run up and down the corridor at speed. Unfortunately for him there was an open safe door in an adjoining office at the end of the corridor with the handle sticking in a forward position to the corridor.. The lad slipped and somehow the handle of the safe imbedded itself through his shin..It wasn't just the crunching of the bone that made me wince but the screams of pain
Even though the kid was a he didn't deserve that.

| Snapped my cruciate ligaments at a tournament in Sheffield, came off bit of freeze spray and strapped the leg up and went back on (obv didnt know the extent of the damage)
Managed to play most of the rest of the tourney and drive back to Hull
then had to crawl from the car to my door as leg was locked at 45 degrees

| I once got into a sword fight with a bloke who was trying to get past (called himself a knight). Chopped off both my legs, then my arms, but I could've still had him if I wanted. Called it a draw in the end....
