Whenever we get a new coach we want them to make the tough decisions & get rid of the players not up to scratch. Until they do & we don’t agree with them then it’s a mistake by the club. If Carty & Myler are happy for Staveley to leave then we’ve got to trust their judgement.

Not buying this down the pecking order story. Really hope their is a plan to being 1/2 players in, as we really lack depth in the backrow and halfs now.

Messed up with Abdul, leaving us short in the halfback.[/quote:158daoar] To be fair Dave, I don't think saying Myler messed up the Abdull signing is fair comment, we signed a player that has the ability but lacks the fitness and from what I understand his fitness was a key factor on the deal signed. So in this instance he probably did the right thing having certain stipulations. Lets not forget the market isn't exactly flush with HB's and we weren't exactly an attractive proposition at the time of signing Abdull which was pre takeover and to be fair we still aren't until we show improvement this season. Myler to give him some credit has moved out some of the players that were poor performing, had poor attitudes, questionable fitness history which we all wanted to see. We now seem a more professional outfit and without the sentimental millstone we had round our necks for years.

The 'down the pecking order' narrative isn't one I buy either, out of him Kirby and Jebson he was by far the most ready of the 3 young SR's. Leaves us with what id class as three 'natural' first team SR's in Lane, Cartwright and Holmes, of which Holmes is struggling with a knee issue and Cartwright seems to pick up niggly injuries frequently.

Or, it could be what Myler was alluding to last week, the December 1st deadline for players beginning talks, and he was going to leave at the end of the year, so we thought we would release him a year early.

Club have confirmed it. Think this might come back to bite us. Not surprisingly a nothing statement. Leaves us very short in the backrow.

Disappointed as thought he had something about him . But there's always things behind closed doors which we are not aware of......Clearly the club have decided he can go for whatever reason........We have been banging the drum for years we are to soft on recruitment so it appears now we are being more ruthless....Maybe he wanted away ?.....So we've done the business early ?......We got to trust the process of the new regime

Well that’s two gone who obviously can’t get up to the desired standards of fitness, just got to back Cartwrights judgement. 11 plus months on from an ACL and still not back fit should be 6-9 months, maybe question marks on his desire to get fit.

Do find it interesting that 2 of the 'larger' players have been let go

At the end of the day, im confident on the club's decision .[/quote:18mxil09] Think you are in the minority there backing the clubs decision It cant be a coach decision because he hasnt had time to see him play but it seems a strange one because the club actually gave him his chance at first team level and he seemed to rise to that before his injury so given there is little in front of him now at the club in either Holmes Lane or Chamberlain it looks like he has signed for another club but will spend the season at Castleford. My take would be that Myler knowing he cocked up with Abdull wouldnt take the chance of a new deal for Staveley so early in the season Think we have lossed a good prospect

You toe the line follow the instructions and get your head down with Cartwright, or your out, the coaches and physios do their bit but the players have to do theirs, that's what one of the assistant coaches told me weeks ago on this subject. And so it has been!! This is not just strong action, but also a lesson for the rest I guess!

A hard nosed NRL coach, who’s worked in elite environments over the last twenty years, makes a decision on a player. I’m comfortable with whatever conclusion he reaches.

That would be a good reason to release him. Like most my feeling is that he’d have done well for us but if he’s not fully committed then we need him to go. As people have said we need to trust the coaches

I’m a little disappointed that a young talent has left but like most others on here , I’m happy to go with myler and Cartwrights opinion’s on the matter . Good luck to him at cas

Disappointing as he's a decent prospect, however I'd guess he's signed elsewhere for next year and isn't fit enough to play yet, maybe for some time so the club feel he's not worth keeping around. Maupybe he has or hasn't looked after himself enough, we'll probably never know the truth but leaches another hole in an already small squad

Holmes - seems very delicate/injury prone Carwright - didn't he have a recurring foot injury when he joined us? seems to miss a fair few games. Lane - would have been binned years ago if it wasn't for his ridiculous contract. Front & centre of the `can't be d brigade', been regular for years simply because we've had no one else of note. His stats were usually atrocious, but predictably improving now his contract is coming to an end. Unusually (for us) most of our top youngsters seem to be backs.The only forwards i've seen who've looked like making the grade are Balmforth & Stavely - the others, - nowhere near first team material Hopefully Myler will surprise us with a quality replacement for Stavely, but i'm not holding my breath

Still disappointing, I know there are two sides to a story, but it does sound like he wanted to stay and fight for his place (even moved to Hull), but the club didn't want him. It won't happen, but would love the club to come out and say why he was released, we have had alot of abuse directed our way from previous players, would be good to fight back a bit.

I see that Waimhouse has posted overnight on Instagram his images of him in each kit. Perhaps he's moved up the pecking order, potential back rower?

Generally employers now just give references with dates you were employed and that is that, for fear of reprisals later.
