I think Cartwright is solid and much better than anything else we have, Cust could be hot or cold, when he first came over he was favourite for MOS and going very well for Wigan but couldn't get that form back after injury. He's a good player but unsure where he'll fit in, I'd rather see Balmforth getting minutes off the bench. Unless Cust is down as our starting 9 with Balmforth or Borough off the bench

Agree on Cartwright if he can stay fit he will be a good signing, was highly rated at Souths.
Just don't get Cust, could have kept Reynolds and signed another quota forward.

It must have been Cartwrights call, maybe surrounding himself with a few players he knows and trusts.

Cust is baffling. He's a part-time hooker or halfback cover. We needed a specialist hooker.
The totality of our recruitment depends on the remaining quota signings. Probably need another non quota quality forward as well. May have to pay a transfer fee.
Pessimistic but I cannot see any significant improvement unless we get it right.

We will definitely improve next season, the next two quota spots will determine by how much.

I agree we will have a better squad but so will other clubs. This season we are competing with London to avoid bottom. Wakefield will replace London and will be far stronger. You are right next season we should improve both on and off the pitch but in terms of league position are we likely to improve much on 11th with the squad we have have assembled so far and even with a couple of stand out signings we desperately need.

Agree on Wakefield but don't think they will be as good as some think, there spine is very average.
Could easily finish above Cas, Hudds and Leeds, none seem stronger yet.

Hudds and Leeds have better squads than us already and with new coaches in place, can see them both doing better next year. Not sure about Cas, I imagine it will be difficult for them to recruit for next season with the uncertainty about whether they'll be in SL or not

Neither have new coaches for next season, which has to be a worry.

Hudds and Leeds still have plenty of holes in their squads. Both will be close if not at full cap too so don't have much wiggle room to improve.
Don't see why we shouldn't be aiming for top 6 with a few more shrewd pieces of recruitment.

To be fair I'm not sure come next season they will be any better than we are roster wise, Leeds especially. Not sure where Huddersfield go from here either after all the money Davy has thrown at it that Watson seems to have burned through with very poor results.

I would say of our signings for next season, currently Asiata is the only signing of real note/quality, though Cartwright could well prove to be a good signing. Most of the other signings whilst maybe not being popular are understandable to an extent when reading Mylers explanation as in needing experience adding along with work ethic in regards to training etc.
The one I'm really struggling to get my head around is Cust as he just seems a very strange/odd signing to make considering he's done little if anything in SL and spend most of his time off the field. I get that Cartwright may well know him well having coached him before but fail to see why when we need quality particularly with the quota spots we've gone for Cust almost replicating the signing of Nu Brown. Is Cust just seen as a squad player, then if so that in all honesty is a waste of a quota spot.
Think our current recruitment whether its been good or bad rests on the remaining quota spots as in the positions we fill and the level of quality.

It seems Cartwright wanted Cust so that's good enough for me. He was very good at Wigan before his injury and he looks like he's been working very hard in the gym the last couple of months or so. Looks in incredible shape and with Abdull and Trueman im sure he'll be starting more than his fair share of games in the halves.

| It depends on who Leeds and Hudds appoint and how they use their quotas, but they have more quality players than us in Croft, Ackers, Handley, Newman and Oledski at Leeds and Conor, Swift, Clune, Burgess at Hudds, apart from Asiata and Abdul if fit, we've nobody of real quality in our team next year, good youngsters and average squad / back up players, but a real lack of quality
