As for 7's, I'd worry about where yours is going to be next year, Orford isn't exactly ripping it up in Canberra and talk is of dropping him to the reserve grade and finding them a new 7 for next year.

fair doo's. just pointing out that a club as big as fc should be challenging wire, wigan, shudds and saints (my top 4 prediction for this year btw). obst is not of that quality imo. brough seems to be getting better every year, the club let him go, hind sights a wonderful thing.

dobson is probably the best 7 in sl. i will admit were garbage without him, but our club seem to know the importance of spending to the cap and putting quality where its needed even if there is no plan b.

Agree with that. Thought he'd be a good signing for you. Obst, T.Leuluai, M. Monaghan - just so valuable to their squads, IMO. Not saying they're all of equivalent quality, necessarily, but Hull, Wigan and Warrington would look a good bit weaker without them.
Tommy Lee

i remember a few years back, a hull fan coming back to pub after a game, quite a sensible chap, good knowledge of the game claiming tommy was majestic on the ball and reminded him of a young andrew johns. what went wrong?

Well he wasn't alone. Rugby League World magazine had him in the top ten teenagers in world RL three years ago.

He still isn't brilliant, no matter how highly you rate him. he's looked OK in a Hull side who have been crying out for someone with a bit of energy in the halfs. he isn't a great organiser and he isn't particularly creative, he hasn't got a great kicking game but he is enthusiastic and he hasn't even been injured yet. The deficiencies we've had in the halfs for 4 years now do not make sam obst brilliant by any stretch of the imagination

Brough wouldn't be the player he is now if he'd stayed at Hull
