| I'm sure he will soon start changing his mind about keeping Hodgson once he sees what the crowds will be like over the remaining fixtures. Likely a good insight into the type of crowds that will become the norm next year unless change is made.
I feel like he is just repeatedly using finance as an excuse not to get rid. However it will likely be worse for our finances to do another year with Hodgson as I can see their been a significant loss of pass holders who are fed up of watching the crap that is been served on the pitch.
Get rid of Hodgson ASAP to allow time to get a proper experienced coach in before pre season starts and I'm sure you will get a lot more renewals and potentially even returning members who haven't has a pass the last couple of years.
You gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

Perhaps as was apparent when we were hearing exactly the same comments about Peter Gentle and Lee Radford, here we have an owner 'bigging up' a very disillusioned Coach who some within the playing squad are again undermining.

| Pearson is far to loyal to his coaches, Radford stayed 2 years too long and it looks like Hodgson is going to stay after two years of zero improvements on the pitch.
It's his money, but he must know the fans won't keep paying to see what is been served up on the pitch.
We need a big finish to the season and couple more signings to persuade me to get a pass for next season.

Pearson is really kidding himself if he thinks pass renewals etc will be at the same level if Hodgson is in charge for 2023.

Agree, very reserves and academy game I have been too when the first team aren't playing he is there.
However his job is to get performances on the field and we are no better than we were under previous coaches.
Happy with recruitment so far, but not sure Hodgson is the man to get us competing again. It took Radford two years, so maybe next year is the year

If that is indeed the situation then it lends even more weight to the argument that Hodgson is out of his depth and does not have the strength of character to in still discipline in the squad or have control of the playing group or any one undermining him within it. As nice as a guy as Hodgson is for me its just Agar all over again but with an Australian accent, maybe a good coach but is just not a Head Coach.

Can't argue with you Dave as AP certainly was too loyal to Radford in the end and is seemingly doing likewise with BH who for me has shown nothing in terms of marking a mark with the 1st team with improvements in any aspect its actually quite the opposite. I am tired of hearing the same old rhetoric from the club about injuries and about being patient when to me sitting through season after season we are just repeating the same mistakes and its been jam tomorrow for too long. Most would accept things if we had shown genuine signs of real improvement and strategy etc but in all honesty I just don't see it at all. Whilst its admirable that the club want youth to succeed and have invested in that area that will take at least 3 or 4 years to really start having an impact on the 1st team and that's if all the ones with potential progress. We all know there are no guarantees with youth as some reach potential quickly, some never do while others develop much slower.
As you say its his money but I can't help think he is just wasting it on another unproven Head Coach with a squad that has a rotten core.
For me the play offs are gone and went after the abysmal collapse at Wakey as anyone there could see all the similarities of previous seasons when the team chuck the towel in for a season. The absolute minimum now is without question to win the final 3 home games remaining and frankly anything less than that is just not good enough.
After being a pass holder for more years than I care to admit, this season will likely be my last unless I see real changes/improvements between now and renewal time and based on what I have seen or rather haven't seen under BH tenure I'm not holding my breath. I'll then join the others on the outside and just pick and choose if I want to see a game live.
If in some peoples eyes that makes me a fair weather supporter or not a true support then so be it but life is short and I want to enjoy things in life instead of more continuation sitting through garbage, getting annoyed week in week out as combined with the way the sport is run now and officiated its not enjoyable.

| Is Powell seen as a poor coach now after his time at Wire?
Was Watson seen as a poor coach at Hudds last season?
Both have been backed massively in turning the squads around and player turn over. Hodgson hasn't had the same luxury, we are getting rid of them in dribs and drabs, the 2 above have done it in one season.
What I don't get is that things seemed to be going alright up until the mid point of the season. We had plenty desire and scramble in defence, even if our attack was limited. The wins against Hudds Wigan, Cats, Wire. Even Leeds away with a busted team.
For me it's too coincidental that the players have dropped off either at a certain point in a game or season when things go against them, do they just think fck it? We did it with Gentle/Radford/Last, we'll do it with this guy. They've proven that they can do it, and beat the top teams in the comp when we stick to a gameplan.

| Just out if interest, who would be seen as a realistic target for a new head coach?
Would someone like Mick Potter fit the bill? Previous head coach, done a decent job of turning the Bulldogs around, might fancy another head coaches job?
Or a wild card, Craig Lingard at Batley?

Powell & Watson both have 'money in the bank' due to their time at Cas & Salford. Hodgson hasn't proved anything.

That's a fair point, and to Daves point about Pearson being too loyal to coaches, he definitely is, but without his loyalty we probably wouldn't have seen those cup wins in 16/17.
I don't know what that answer is tbh, I feel like I'm on the opposite side of the fence to most posters on here, in that I'd stick with BH for this off season. Why would the core group of players act differently for anyone else?
Saying that, he needs a big start to next season otherwise he'll have his OBE.

Will Hodgson be a good coach I have my doubts
But this is 100% on the players conceding 60 points 4 or 5 times a season is a disgrace
Guess what the similar players did the same under radders aswell

| Have it on very good authority, that at half time of the game on Sunday, the Saints players and coach were just sitting in silence, listening to the arguing from the Hull FC players between themselves for pretty much the whole HT period. Then, Woolf just said, go out and enjoy the next 40 minutes - they knew nothing was coming back at them from Hull
