Quote: Rupert Pupkin "If all the players played to their international/SOO form then possibly yes but those days are gone IMO.

No doubting the pack will have bags of experience and should be solid down the middle of the park, maybe one worry would be, will the pack be mobile enough? e.g. have enough power and pace away from the ruck, yes Manu does it for you guys but can the others(not seen enough of Hame to comment).'"

It's very rare that a group of players all play to their full potential at the same time but we only need 1/2 the pack to be on their game on any given day and we will be as good as any pack in SL.

I wouldn't have said mobility is an issue. There's only 2 big men in there in o'meley and lauaki and lauaki is pretty mobile from what I've seen.

Quote: Jake the Peg "Our defence is shocking and our attack is even worse. I suppose with a bigger pack, agar's 5 drives and a kick tactics may get better results'"

I still maintain that our defence suffers a lot from the amount of work it has to do, which is again partly attributed to by our poor attack resulting in less possession, as well as the poor interchange policies we have seen. Also the fact that we don't kill games off when in charge means the opposition always have plenty to play for late in the game, hence us conceding late points on a regular basis.

I firmly believe that if we could add 12-18 points to our attack in games it would bring about a 6-12 point saving in defence with it at the same time. Bear in mind that adding as little as an average of 10 points in attack and saving 4 in defence would give us a points difference behind only Leeds and Saints. And that's not unrealistic IMO if you consider how many times we get good possesion in the opposition's half and come away with nothing.

We certainly don't need to worry about the amount of local/British players that we have. We have more than most clubs have and a lot of them are actually pretty average. I couldn't give a to$$ where they come from when they are top drawer signings.

Very true. I think the club have focused too much on filling the team with Hull lads to the detriment of the squad

dowes - plodder
king - pudding
carvell - splitter albeit a class act on his day
thackery - pi$$ head

luaki - like for like with carvell?
cucask - like for like with dowes, but better
moa - all in all a better prospect than king
shrek - international prop'"

Add to that, that dowes is still here, I certainly feel in terms of quality, next years pack is better than the 2005 one. You also have to consider that there isn't a vast amount of British talent around at prop at the moment, so I think we've done aswell as we can to give size, power and mobility to the pack.

Correct.

We meet the quota so I don't see what the issue is. Besides we have more locals lads than most clubs.

But this has been done partly to meet declared RFL targets on homegrown players and reducing overseas quotas. Had we been aware the RFL would allow a massive fudge on these rules, we probably would have invested resources differently and would have had a different squad composition to the one we have. No doubt that in relative terms continually allowing new dispensations and ways of coming off quota has disadvantaged us as we've put a lot of effort into developing our own talent.

I always used to use that point as a point of pride. however, too many locals in the side i think does lead to too many off field issues. A healthy balance is what is required.

I don't think there's been a time in the last few years when we've had more local lads in the side then Leeds have had in theirs, yet Leeds have consistently been the best, or second best team in the competition.

Are you for real? the Warriors got shut of him and he couldn't make the NZ squad for last years World Cup which is why he played for Tonga. Talk about being deluded...

Leeds's youngsters have had better tuition, than ours - IMHO.
