i thought thorman was mom for me, dont know why tickle got it. ok he scored a great try but thought thorman deserved it by far. was twice as good as sean long last night as he played incosistantly for the full 80 mins.

calderwood deserves more praise aswell again this week, he was second choice for mom personnaly.

Long missed more tackles than Thorman last night, whats more, the tackles he missed was on OUR easy to tackle players. Long also kicked significantly worse than Thorman. I'm not a huge fan of Thorman, I just try to have a balanced view. You lot feel free to get your pitchforks out of the cupboards though, it's much easier to follow the mob.

I prefer to make my own mind up by watching the game. Long was involved in most of their tries, Thorman did tackle well last night ive said that elsewhere. Thought Long's kicking game was good, Thormans was better than usual. Your forgetting the one thing that Long far outplayed Thorman with and that was directing his team round the park and calling decent plays not 5 drives and a kick. icon_wink.gif

Too right. I agree 100%. I posted thread after thread slagging of the signing of Calderwood but his performances have shown my earlier opinion to be wrong. If we was Saints or Leeds I'd not be happy with him on the wing but we're not, and in our team he's one of the top larkers. This said, he should've taken that ball from Whiting!

longs kicking game was terrible last night, dont know what people were seeing if they though otherwise. i know hes better then thorman but he definately didnt show it last night. for me it was wilkin who controlled the game and took over from both long and pryce(who was virtually none exsistant)

yeh that was unfortunate from calderwodd not to take the pass but to be fair i also think it was a bit of a panic pass from whiting he could have easily had a few more strides and gave it to him. it was a good catch from whiting though to even get in that position.

i also dont blame thorman for 5 drives and kick, for me thats the coaching. thorman is simply following the game plan and you cant blame him for that. its down to agar to coach him on set plays and allow him to play expansive. did we play any different last year without him? no. it was exactly the same.

You want Thorman to coach the side? I'm afraid that any scrum half in the top 3 division would have been involved in Saints tries last night and would have seemed to be directing the team around the park. The attacking line of Saints is spread out with each runner selecting the right options with superb timing. In attack, our players almost stand in a scrum, and our first and second receiver often have little or no options at all. Long, or indeed ANY scrum half in our team last night would not have directed the team around well.

The effort was there which is always the minimum we ask for. As for Long, if we are playing the same brand of rugby next year he will be just as ineffectual as Thorman has been.

Correct. We need a massive clear out with this years salary cap on the lazy runners. Sorry non runners.

HE wasn't amazing still a long way off what we want from our SH but he showed a tons mroe ffort and willingness to play. Which obviousley made him look better considering what he has being producing.

i thought long was shiiiiite last nite and thorman did ok nothing spectacular just ok and r.horne had been closed down everytime he had the ball saints knew he would be the dangerman so decided to stop his skill before he had chance to execute it.

Tell me then which scrum half actually created scoring opportunities for his team last night and which one didn't.

No he wasn't, he wasn't great but was far from shiiiiite (see Thorman's performance at Leeds and the 2nd half against Warrington, now that was shiiiite). Long did however create/was involved in 2/3 of St's tries last night, nothing to do with bigging him up. That said I've seen enough of him to know he's capable of much better.
