His contract expires at the end of this season so I would guess there's no need for a multi year deal. Hasn't got the pace of Cross but he's a far better player and we were interested last season.

Are there any other clubs we could look at offering a transfer fee to? The league is near insolvent and being proped up by wealthy owners, surely waving say £100k at a club would at least be considered (aside from a few big names, certain clubs that are also rich etc)

Another problem is Warrington is very close to Salford, had it been a Yorkshire team with these issues we'd have a better chance at signing them.

Probably but I doubt we are wanting to pay fees for players. The media are calling the Salford situation it ‘selling’ players but I doubt there’s much in the way of transfer fees being offered, Ackers and Croft went for 150K last year without the special
measures. I don’t think they have any assets close to being as valuable as those 2 now, and it’s been made public that they need 800K off the wage bill it’s definitely a buyers market can’t see anyone going for anywhere near 100K.
