You could say the same about any of the top 4, though. Top sides don't tend to lose players unless they don't want them any more, and they build their sides from their youth structures, the NRL, and bullying the lower clubs and taking their best players. The problem isn't where we're shopping, but it possibly is what we're picking up off the shelf.

Why would a player who is at a top team and in form go to a team who is worse? This isn't exclusive to us, hardly any of the top teams sign other top teams' players, they usually sign the best players from the lower teams.

Good point mate, you get very little player movement from good players in top clubs to a rival.

It's just another reason for our fans to moan mate. As well as the whole "why don't we sign any top players like Sinfield or Tomkins?" bulle that you always hear. Their club didn't sign them either! Either homegrown or from a lesser team.

Current top 4 teams' halves and clubs they're from tells this story:

Wigan: Green - KR, Smith - Salford
Wire: Myler - Salford, Ratchford - Salford
Leeds: Burrows, Maguire, Sinfield - homegrown
Giants: Robinson - Salford, Brough - Wakefield

Smith - Salford/Saints/Crusaders

Robinson Salford/Wigan

Brough York/Hull/Cas/Wakey

I'm happy that we can soon draw a line under this very average and sometimes embarrassing season. At least we haven't given the dobbins the opportunity of an end of season cup final at their wembley, instead we can just wimper out of the play-offs in a low profile game at Catalan. Every cloud.......

Our recruitment for next season will have to be very good indeed. We need 2 more props, a second row and a centre/winger, all of which must be top quality (not Castleford fringe players).

After the disappointments of this season and Gentle's very dubious recruitment, Pearson will have a tough job convincing 8,000 supporters to renew their season passes 2014. I will certainly be one of those fans waiting to be "wowed" a couple of times before parting with another £240.

The decision to retain or bin Peter Gentle will be made by Adam Pearson, and in my opinion,will be made on the comment in the last paragraph above.Season passes.If the club have some big signings up their sleeve,and not bit players from clubs that finished below us,if not,and time will tell, we will fall short of this years pass sales.
There will be the hardcore,and I suppose I fall into that category,that will renew but many will not.

Had a pass for the last 12years, but my decision to buy one next year rests of whether we either change head coach, or bring in several top quality players. Otherwise I'm watching on SKY or picking and choosing my matches. The way things are going they'll be giving away the tickets for £5 to fill the ground anyway.

I'm undecided about Gentle's ability or lack of it. I suppose it would be prudent to let him start next season with, hopefully, a stronger squad after some quality close season recruitment.

I really hope that PG is the man to bring us success but I do suspect that ultimately he will prove not to be that person.

I'd give Langley a shot. We need an experienced forward if the signings of walker is true from cas. You never know a change of environment might spark him back into life and he's a dam sight better than walker

Wonder how many fans of other clubs are waiting to see who they sign or waiting for a change of coach before deciding whether to buy a pass or not.
