The sooner we become NRL Europe the better, what a terrible decision taking magic weekend to Elland road, fans won't stay beyond their teams game...there's nothing outside the ground apart from a McDonald's, the only positive I can think of is there'll be a decent crowd in when Leeds play their game

| May as well just scrap it.
Adds to the games death spiral.

When a "worldwide talent search" for a new head of the sport concludes with a person in the same office just down the corridor, this is what you get... with the reduced TV deal, the poorly attended series v Tonga, no international fixtures for 2024 after Samoa withdrew, letting Newcastle fail, promoting a team that will automatically be relegated next year and also letting that team stop running their academy, telling an expansion team not to bother entering a cup competition because some teams think it is too far to travel...the sport is an absolute mess currently

Even by the low standards of decision making in the game its really has out done itself (if that was even possible) with the decision to have the Magic weekend at Elland Rd.
It is such a poor venue for holding such an event as there is very little in and around the immediate area to cater for the fans attending and a 30 to 45min walk from the City Centre. I can't see many fans hanging around for the full day and most will likely stay in the City Centre then get to the stadium for the clubs game then depart back to the City centre or home.
Unless the RFL and Co are going to have some form of decent hospitality options set up on the car park at Elland road with adequate facilities and seating etc not just a couple of street vending trailers, a marquee and portaloos. This is not likely to happen as the costs involved will deter them from putting anything of a decent standard on and in all honesty its likely been moved to Elland Rd for financial reasons more than anything.
Not a massive fan of the Magic Weekend but its one of the few successes in the UK game but this decision seems to be taking the game and an event that has actually been a success backwards.
The whole attraction of the event was/is that its almost a festival of rugby and venues such as Cardiff and Newcastle were excellent due to the standards of the stadia and the facilities in and around the immediate area.
Nothing against Leeds as I do enjoy a day/night out there but Elland Rd offers very little of what a venue needs to have for an event such as the Magic Weekend.

| Agree - really poor venue with absolutely no 'MAJIC' attached.
As usual just seems the sport stutters on making apparently poor decisions, or is it just the lack of profile of the sport & financial constraints ??
Hobsons choice perhaps ?

Thought Sky were binning off the Thursday night slot?
Must admit I did feel a bit lost when they stopped them towards the end of last season

Thursday night TV games are great if it's not Hull playing.
Hopefully still a chance of 20,000 for the game.

Cant see the Police being chuffed with an evening kickoff, it wasnt pleasant on Good Friday and not just due to the scoreline!

If they’re showing all 6 games from each round they’re going to have to space them out. Thursday night, Friday night, 2 games Saturday and 2 Sunday.

I thought I read somewhere only two/three games a week will be shown on sky TV, the rest will be on our league, so might kick off at a similar time
