It should be a points deduction and at the very least a 0-50 'scoreline'. It should never be preferable to accept a default loss than to make the effort and play a game.'"
Thanks for that
Lets hope some others on here like Hull2524 read your post. They just dont get it.
Playing this match is hardly going to enhance or help our game against HKR when we are missing half the team including the spine and Chris Satae
Understand we will get Savelio back but surely common sense says take the Walkover penalty.
Then to spend as i said £15000/£20000 on an aircraft when the club is facing major financial difficulty thats what doesnt add up.

I disagree.
I wouldn’t want Hull ever to accept a walkover penalty as an alternative to playing. It completely goes against the spirit of the game. Otherwise, we would could have cherry picked games for years. I’m sure some of those horror results at home to Warrington would read better as a 0-24 defeat, however you’d just get some teams playing 20 games per season and taking a breather and a 24-0 default defeat to St Helens etc.
If we complain about the flight cost, then we incur that every season. What do we do, kick Cats out of the League because they are too expensive to play?
I’m glad we are playing. The result will be what it is. The competition gets to fulfill one more round; Cats get gate revenue; we clear our suspensions; Taylor gets some match fitness; and some of our youngsters get a debut.
If we start being selective, the game’s dead.

For clarity I'm against the idea of cancelling and accepting a default 0-24 result and I'm glad we are playing tomorrow [ibut[/i I can understand why two clubs have taken that option rather than playing teenagers and probably losing by a much bigger margin as well as potentially picking up further injuries and/or susensions. The penalty for not playing is nowhere near strong enough.

So when you really can't raise a team, you'd be well and truly stuffed, thru' no fault of your own.
The current rules were brought in for obvious reasons, if clubs and supporters want to cheat then good riddance to them.
The RFL has already said that any club caught flaunting these rules would be severely dealt with.

I do understand the alternative argument but there is a heat wave at the moment in Southern Europe with daytime temperatures above 36 degrees and its likely we will be kicking off in a 30 degree temperature and high humidity. This is hardly going to help Taylor get any match fitness probably do 15 /20 mins in total.
The only important suspension cleared would be Savelio
I am not complaining about the flight cost just dont understand why if the club are so short of money they would want to incurr the cost when its not neccessary. They may say that we want to give players game time before the Derby but half the players will not be included in the team for the Derby.
Another real concern for me in this heat will be iIndiscipline. We have seen several times now when we fall behind our discipline goes to pot .
Scenario could be we end up getting Savelio back but losing a couple of players to match bans for infringements due to fatigue and losing ones head as the scoreline mounts up.
That would make the trip really worthwhile

| As far as I can tell at least 4 players won't be playing in the derby because of covid, the more bodies we get back the better.
Suspensions would have made that 7. You can't argue that we might lose more players because we're actually playing a match, that's always the case.

Harsh. He did a lovely assist for Eden to seal it.

| I used to criticise Eddie and Stevo. Then we got Bill, Baz and Tez
Glad Cas hung on. Don’t think I could have coped with the Sky team if Saints had pinched it.
Bentley is a Poundland Bateman as well!

Sad to hear of the death of that rampaging back rower for Saints and GB Dick Huddart,an outstanding player of the 50's and 60's. Loved watching him play and he played in the GB pack in 3 successive Ashes wins (2 in Aus) and with Johnny Whiteley and Tommy Harris in 2 of them. The 3 of them played in the 1959 series in England which was the last time GB won a home Ashes series and I was at all the games.
Dick went to Aus. in 1966 and became the first GB player to win a GF.
RIP. Dick(Tiger) Huddart.
