| If it weren't for sky the game would have been cancelled. No thought for the players or speccies. Poor decision but he who pays the piper calls the tune as they say

| Quote: yorksguy1865 "Yeah, apparently they are coming on the train, article on Hull Daily Mail says about it.'" Looks like we sent a coach (Acklams, not LR) out to pick them up in Leeds - they're now in Hull.

| Quote: bonaire "totally agree the game should be postponed in line with the other fixtures.
How can you expect players to perform in a ball handling sport when the temperature with wind chill is expected to be -8 degrees.
Just dont see any advantage to the club playing this game and cold temperatures always produce more groin and hamstring injuries.
Small crowd now its on Sky.I have a feeling the club will regret this decision.'"
The stadium is an enclosed bowl, what kind of winds do you expect at ground level?
I mean players have managed to play good rugby and be safe in far worse conditions and not even that long ago never mind when it was winter rugby. I don't remember any players getting hypothermia back then ... unless you are stood still and not doing your job properly.
thoughts of the game being PPd for the sake of a minority fans is utterly ridiculous, player welfare is not an issue in this situation otherwise the officials would call it off already, simple as that.

I do, Des Hasler - came out second half in a wet suit iirc and he ended up in hospital with hyperthermia.

|
| Bit of googling....
"TWO rugby players from New Zealand collapsed on the pitch one minute from the end of a match yesterday suffering from hypothermia."
Plenty to choose from.

| *UPDATE* #M62 remains closed e/bound J20-J22 + w/bound J24-J21 due to strong winds + on-going work to clear the remaining stranded HGVs. #A66, #A628, main cross-country routes are also closed. M62 = likely to remain closed until at least this evening, gusts of 80mph just recorded.

How long ago was that, how many out of millions of games have players suffered hypothermia?
The chances are slim to none, more chance of players suffering a serious injury in game on any given match.

You produced one example, I don't remember any players every having hypothermia, what bit of that are you struggling with?
Again re player welfare, it was not an issue tonight at any point, air temperature at 7PM was 1.5C.
Clearly you think calling off a game on the back of a ridiculously rare example is justifiable, might as well call all games off in case players get seriously injured by your thinking

Stop embarrassing yourself.
You said you don't remember anyone ever having hypothermia, other posts contradicted you, and I found plenty of examples.

| In the final analysis we should all be very pleased with tonight. Got the game on to avoid an awkward rearrangement - it's what other big teams like Wigan do. 2 points in the bag against a top 8 challenger. Jake Connor on matchwinning 40-20 wind-up form. And the whole weekend ahead of us. Lovely.
