Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Quote: number 6 "All I heard radord say was that Thompson had a bug and passed it onto him'" I heard him say that on RH about 30 minutes before the Warrington game started.
No mention of Thompson in the RH interview after the Widnes game, nor on HullfcLive.
I suppose it might have been on Sky.

Not 100% sure when i heard it but it was on Humberside, post the Widnes match because Radford alluded to his performance during that game. Could have been a mid week interview that they do in the build up to the following weekend. What was clear to me is that we wouldn't be seeing Thompson for a while and since then he hasn't been selected (illness or not).

| Well we were planning on going but traffic chaos ala Widnes away predicted. Just checked the planned roadworks and it doesn't look good. Radio for me now, very disappointing.

A rest??
He's a professional RL player, he'll want to play and so he should, if fit then "resting" anyone is a nonsense, the top sides don't "rest" players, certainly not against a team we will (although it may seem unlikely right now) be competeing for position with. If this were Batley away or some such then maybe, but we're talking a wounded St Helens that will want to hit the ground running, we need the best side fit and available.
Would your boss give you a "rest" for doing your job the last two shifts?

Resting players against Warrington seemed to work.

Did we "rest" anyone?
We did really well to get a result, credit to everyone who pulled on a shirt, conundrum is, do we drop a few for "names" or keep them playing??
maybe a few ego's need a "rest" as well, anyway, [itanking [/iit to Saints later.

Next you're going to be telling us that they played 3 games in 3 days in the 80's aren't you?
No one will want to sit it out, but we have a deep squad, and if we can rotate the pack so that everyone gets a week off every now and then it will benefit us later in the season. Yes playing 3 times in a week is their job, they know all about it well in advance, but if guys are tired and you have a good quality replacement who is hungry for a chance then what good does it do the keep flogging them?
I wouldn't expect to get a day off for working two shifts, but if I worked two shifts back to back I would, and tbf I don't work with a bunch of 17 stone guys who try to beat me up.

Does your job require you to be at a physical and mental peak in order to get the result needed?
If you want elite players to play at an elite standard for a prolonged period of time, they need adequate rest. Just because someone wants to play isn't enough. It doesn't mean they should, and many injured players "want" to play on when they need extra recovery. This is why people are saying to rest players.

Strange when people compare an everyday job to being an elite athlete having to play the most physical contact team sport 3 times in 7 days!

Fonua Pritchard and Minichiello according to the Official Website.
What ego's need to be rested?
Welcome to the forum by the way. It's always good to have views that may differ from the rest.

Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before.

Also unable to spell coast, which suggests someone from the East. I don't think he'll last long.

| A quick read through their posts points to a negative soul with an axe to grind.
In just a few posts they've managed to have a pop at Motu, Horne, Radford, Last & unnamed players having ego's. Just Pearson & we have a full-house.
