| Looks simple to me.
You would think that Brian isn't going to want a head coach's job after 4 or 5 years, this is a great opportunity for Radford to step to aside and be coached by a master.
From what I remember of Brian Smith he started to create a club not a team, the threepenny stand rebuild was down to him, building a team of coaching staff and understanding how a rugby league club should be ran.
Bring him in, let him build some systems and make a start on the club Hull idea

I agree with your comments, someone of Smith's calibre & experience is required.
Training regimes & mental & physical preparation need to be independently analysed, but the major problem is...
Would the owner sanction such a move?
IMO,Adam Pearson is blocking the progress of this club.

Agree whole heartedly with the bit in bold.
Why AP is so determined to back Radford when its clear to anyone with even half an idea of the sport can see it is simply not working and Radford is floundering, does the owner not listen to the ramblings of the man he has entrusted in turning the club around??
The mental attitude is worse now than it has ever been and even Radford had admitted on a number of occasions in post match interviews he doesn't know how to sort it.
We just lack any sort of plan, attitude and intensity, effort maybe there but if no one in the team knows what the hell they are doing then all the effort in the world wont make much of a difference against teams that have effort, ideas, organisation and desire. Sadly we are missing the last 3.

If only Radford would resign or Pearson admit he made a big mistake replacing Peter Gentle with Radford and sack him.
If we lose the next three games and its a distinct possibility surely he has to go based on performance.
If Brian Smith would agree to come back to Hull that would be a great move for the club

I listened intently to Smith's interview when he first arrived at Wakefield.
He stated he was in a self imposed exile for 2 years, as he didnt need the pressure anymore of coaching in the NRL.
He moved into a remote country area where he took up farming, he said he didn't know, how long he would stay coaching at this moment in time,it depends on how his mindset is/will be.
I get the impression by his comments,he would love to return to Hull FC, but for mine, only as a short term appointment.
He would be suited to a role of a 'Coaching Consultant', to guide, tutor an unproven Coach, then probably return to the wilderness of the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney.
IF Pearson is hell bent on Radford/Last/Horne, surely it wouldnt do ANY harm , as Smith as previously taught Robinson,Anderson,Brown,Potter,Taylor,Morgan,T Smith etc.
Depends how ambitious, the owner is....-IMO

Sorry but I don't want Radford anywhere near this club EVER, he's shown his true colours time and again, gone against his word, is a backstabber, a bully and as a coach has so many flaws nothing short of a brain transplant is going to turn him into a 'good' coach.
After 1 3/4 seasons of his nonsense (aside from a couple of excellent games) it's being micturate poor, I can't understand how people are still willing to give him a chance as an assistant never mind the head coach position.

| Would happily take Bri Smith on a rolling one year contract.
He would be like a breath of fresh air and ouse enthusiasm. There would be no blaming players, fans or short turnarounds. In his time with Hull, he brought a real club/team culture, with a team of 13 players and a 'no star' policy. He turned a very average Andy Dannatt and Paul Eastwood into International players.
I know some think he wouldn't be successful, but we don't want to get any lower and with our resources, set up etc we should be achieving more. We are not going to go from c9th in the league to Champions, but we should be able to compete for the Top Four and then kick on from there.
I think he would show us something different, something better. If he wanted to go back to Oz in a year or two, then that would be fine. We could plan for that and he could help us succession plan, rather than give it to some inexperienced new Coach who fancies the job.
Some say he did the dirty on Hull and quit on us. From what I recall he got an offer from 'his club' St George and left us in a much healthier position. I think he'd see Hull as unfinished business and his affinity with the club would see him want to come to us.
