But, SL has to close the gap to the NRL and RU salary caps, otherwise SL will become a fully blown feeder league, won't it?

We've seen plenty of talent leave SL the past few years, with the overall quality of overseas players getting lower. This exemption should help both of those factors and increase the quality of the competition.

Uneven playing field? yeh, I agree, it does to a degree. But I don't think that's as terrible thing as it suggests. There'll be teams which can't afford to use this exemption, but there'll be 7/8 of a league of 12, who can afford it. That's still fairly a fairly even league.

SL shouldn't be content with only being as good as it's worst clubs, with the top half being held back. We want to see the best players possible playing over here don't we?

Sam Tomkins

Others (some have returned since) include: Joel Tomkins, Mike Cooper, Joe Burgess, Elliot Whitehead, Kyle Eastmond, Chris Ashton, Burgess twins, Josh Hodgson, Lee Mossop. All of which have been in and around the England squad at some point.

my concern is where will it stop. correct me if i'm wrong but hadn't this idea been dissmissed before but has been brought up again? what irks me is that this is something that Koucash has been banging on about since he took over Salford, to me it seems the RFL will take what he says more seriously because of the attention he garners.

I assume the 8 clubs that voted for this can afford this whereas the 4 that didn't perhaps can't

I'd rather see the extra money spent on these marquee signings put towards a reserve grade otherwise we will lose talent before they make the first grade
