Quote: deslawson "Thats reassuring to know his jobs safe, after all he is a proven coach,11th last year and currently 12th this year which shows he is also consistent.
He reminds me of justin morgan who was also very good when interviewed on telly,in fact in his most recent interview I recall he almost completed a sentence.
Keep up the good work lee,at least you are keeping one half of the city happy. What are you doing on here?

When I compare our playing squad with the others in SL, the main issue is that our Hull born players are not up to the calibre of players at other teams. The 'Club Hull' ethos has actually held us back as a club with the misguided theory that if you are born in Hull, somehow that will improve your performances as a professional athlete for your hometown club. I believe our Hull players are bang average in their respective positions when compared to their peers in SL. Over the past two years Green, Bowden, Houghton, Yeaman, Cunningham, Hadley have been the definition of average. The younger players seem to very quickly hit a limit to their development and don't progress as players to the extent of Wigan / Saints / Leeds / Cas youth players. Nothing wrong with a strong youth set up feeding players into the team but only if they are up to the standard required. Our recent recruitment of players born outside of Hull has actually been OK under Radford but the Hull born players are bringing the overall quality down of the squad. The coach too is certainly out of his depth and he falls under the 'Club Hull' umbrella also. He talks about performances all the time when in professional sport it's all about winning, he really does miss the point. The plethora of excuses routinely given by the club for our failings is not only grating to hear put is a sign the club is scarred to admit the strategy Pearson laid out after PG left has failed. An 11th place finish with one of the worst attacks in the league last year and the same again this year is only indicator needed to tell you that the strategy is not working. Please Pearson wake up and smell the coffee, Radford and his staff need to go, they are not fit for purpose. They were part of the PG regime that AP considered a failure yet somehow you managed to see as the solution? We all appreciate what AP has done for this club but I hope he swallows his pride and gets a coach with a proven track record in SL and drops this club hull philosophy.

My theory is that the Huddersfield win was a fluke. Pure and simple. The players surprised themselves and it was knackall to do with Radford.
We backed it up with a narrow (again) loss to Wire, off the back of the Huddersfield "feel-good factor". a 2 week break and we got Salfords backlash. Then a huge wake-up call against Leeds and now we're sliding. That will be very hard to reverse. We played a poor Wigan side who were looking as bad as us and lost that due to dumb rugby. Now we're about to face a smarting Catalans side who's had a real 40-minute battering.

We're fugged.

Fair post - particularly the bit about Hull born players in the squad. Many of them not good enough.

If ever proof was needed that some fans just want radford out regardless is the statement that the Giants game was a fluke ??? then we have its all Pearsons fault because he is not a rugby man..we might as well give up and call it a day because with support like that we have no chance

Supporters that care about the club you mean?

Some people do make some over the top statements, but it's only because they are worried about where we are going and desperately want things to turn around.

I agree with you on the point of that being a ridiculous statement. We might have been a tad fortunate to catch them cold, but you can only beat what's in front of you and you don't nil anyone by fluke.

As I posted earlier, I would like to know which players you think are the lame ducks Radford has been lumbered with though, as the 'not [all]his team' could just as easily be labelled as proof that some will defend Radford regardless.

Agree with you on this. The `its not Radfords team' is utter tripe - he's signed a full team - in one & a half seasons!!

Talanoa. Naughton. Sa. Michaels. Rankin. Tuson. Sneyd. Carvell
Minichello. Colbon. Howarth. Pryce. Palaaesina

Mind numbingly poor when you look at that lot collectively

Why would we take those extra into account? You explicitly stated 'those that are left'.

I like to judge players in a value for money context. Howarth is 3rd choice, bought last minute and probably on a pittance, don't see the problem who else has a better 3rd choice? Especially given we have nothing in the 19's to back us up.
Naughton, really? He's 20 ffs.
Sa - Not sure a fractured vertebrae is typical of an injury prone player, but jury's definitely still out.
Feka - Like Howarth, plucked from obscurity last minute and in the last year of a minimal contract I'd imagine.
Michaels - Saw enough last Friday (did you go?) to see there's a decent player there. He looked especially dangerous with Lancaster when we had a go in the last 10 minutes.

As for haworth... who needs and has 3 hookers? Rovers just got rid of carlile for that exact reason, anyways, feka, aint good enough, and as youve stated both were plucked from obscurity and for good reason, noone else wanted them...., sa was injured when we signed him, and hasnt strung more than 2/3 games together since ges been here... michaels, well, i wont comment, i had my doubts when we signed him , he is bang average IMO.... naughton, well, maybe im being harsh, but whats the point in siging a guy who clearly isnt going to pkay, for me, sign players who will improve the first team, currently howarth and naughton might as well not be here......
