Fev, Halifax & leigh can only just 3,000 between them - they offer nothing to the comp. So dont understand your point. Let just stick to the flat capped stereotype of RL and let the RFU and NRL poach all our best layers in their flourishing global sport.

| I am absolutely convinced that people simply look at this and think its complicated. It's simple. Championship clubs can build towards promotion. Bottom clubs in SL can scrap to survive.. 23 games then 7 then play off. Now either my education was incredibly superior (which it certainly wasn't) or some people simply don't want to see the good this potentially can bring.
But hey that's sport I guess. I don't want Radford others do. Let's keep the debate civil though.

Rovers pre superleague offered similar, they now average around 8k.

And why is that?
Answer because there is no chance of progressing in the current climate. Halifax Leigh Fev can attract big crowds with the ambition to break through the current glass ceiling.

Big crowds? really - when Leigh were last in the Superleage they averaged less than 4k. Fev - ??? really?? this takes the sport back 20 years - whilst the Aussies build strong clubs we dilute our sport to the lowest common denominator. There isn't enough player quality to sustain the existing SL teams so where is it going to come from to serve an extra 12 teams? Too many traditionalists run our sport and get their way whilst the world moves on around them. If it was in this country, the RFL would have scrapped the State of Origin because one side dominated but the Aussies didn't even give that a second thought. Instead they focussed on the positives and now the balance of power seems to be changing. To change now after only 6 years of the current system is barmy

That's all very interesting, but so far no one here or on the Wigan board can provide me with the clear reasons why we are changing after only 6 years of the current system which was working - Catalan, Widnes, Cas & Huddersfield have all developed into stronger clubs because the threat of relegation has been removed. Ultimately this can only be good for the national team but you cannot allow for the clown in charge!

Because the club has been allowed to develop without the threat of relegation and the financial circus that surrounds that

In 6 years, Crusaders (twice), Wakefield and Bradford (twice) have gone into admin.
Salford and London were on the verge of extinction.
Catalans were developing well before SL went to licensing.
As were Huddersfield (in fact it could be argued relegation was the best thing for them in 2002 as they have kicked on since then and certainly didn't kick on from finishing bottom 4 years running).
Widnes have finally started to show promise.
And one season doesn't make Cas an argument for licensing. Salford had a good season once.
The top 8 play offs have seen play off crowds drop drastically.
In fact crowds are down across the board.
High-end Championship clubs are seeing lack of interest. In fact, a lot of people are losing interest. The regular season has become stale.
SL up until 2008 was growing. Since 2010, crowds have been dropping.
It has failed.

Leigh averaged nearly 5k despite being awful. Don't make up facts.
The rest is just hyperbole.
Why does there need to be another 12 teams worth of top flight player quality?

| Warming to the new structure but definatly not the challenge cup format, it should be an open draw with all the top teams coming in together in the same round, they are taking away small clubs dreams of that big game against the likes of leeds, wigan or saints

If your so daft to think its working then let me explain...
Wales (Celtic Crusaders) The Franchise that didn't even last 3 Years .. Wish full thinking was that then ?
London - Oh don't get me started... Different name / Ground / both every couple of years.. alienates whatever fans they do have - would not have survived this long without the RL changing the rules for them ... finally been allowed to be relegated and it will do them the world fo good!
Bradford - The club that broke itself trying to maintain its franchise ... sad to see the relegated tbh.. but rather them the us..
The fracchise system was cack - RIP and don't come back!
Both hull cubs a lucky to have a decent fan base that most (except the top 4 / wigan/ warrington / sts/ leeds) would kill to have... and we need to use that fan base appropriately... the crap rugby both clubs have been dishing out recently is, I believe, a side effect of the "franchise" system" - no relegation - no consequences... we even had the London/Bradford buffer this year so it was not such a worry... Next season performances will have a consequence.. thank god relegation is back and we will have something to play for all season long!

Based on league places
There is an issue in that you may not know who, when or where you'll be playing until the week before the Super 8s start.

You seriously think that's why our crowds went up from 3k to 8 k? Jeez, you need some strong coffee.

Like Fax and Leigh did when they were last in SL?
