| Quote: Standee "The fact that Radford's fluffer says Long "gave his all in an FC shirt" says everything.'"
Are you insinuating Longy didn't give his all for us?
Very unlucky with thumb, elbow, and leg injuries then the final dislocated shoulder injury was the final death knell.
Suppose that was the risk we took signing him in the veteran stage but I never saw any evidence to say that he wasn't giving his all.

Then we'll agree to disagree, I thought he was rubbish for Hull.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

He wasn't rubbish but didn't hit the heights he could do...injuries did for him in the end.You didn't rate Jason Smith

But you do recognise the subtle difference in thinking he was rubbish and him not giving his all, hopefully?

Standee has a real downer on Jason Smith. Possibly he double-teamed Standee's wife with Longy?
Sean Long showed no evidence of not pulling his weight. He was unlucky with injuries, that is all.
If he improves our half-backs and options in the 20 metre zone, its a massive plus. Gentle was a half-back in his playing days and we were garbage.

| Whilst not the best example setter off the field you have to look into each circumstance of his recent roles.
Salford - was there a couple of years doing an excellent job with backs and improved Matty Smith no end. Only left when Noble took over due to past rifts.
Wigan - did not fit in with Wigan's very strict structure from first team to youth level , so didn't last long.
London - a part time job 200 miles from home - working with sub-standard SL players.
I think Longy could do a very good job for you guys - apparently his tactical knowledge is excellent .

| I'm prepared to give him a chance, people react different in different environments and time will only tell if this is the right environment for him.
Considering how unprofessional he is though, he does seem to have a lot of honors. So even if he hasn't had any as a coach he knows what is required. Either way I don't see it is a deal breaker in terms of where we will end up in the future, I'd be more concerned with Radfords appointment.

| Well I maybe in the minority here bit I think it's a good appointment. I think he will improve our structure, I saw an improvement in Salfords attack whilst he was there.

Indeed. I remember on quite a few occasions thinking that Long was going through the motions.

He didn't improve your attack last time he was here, what makes you think he will this time?

We'll have to agree to disagree then.
The bad injuries he sustained at our club were usually as a result of him putting his body on the line in desperate last ditch defence attempts.
I will agree that it would have been nicer to see him going the other way more often.
Twas not to be.

| Is this for real?
He was sacked by Wigan for being unprofessional. His track record off the field as a pro was to say the least chequered. Then to cap it all he has been ditched by London for being unprofessional.
Now you might as some are doing suggest it was because he didn't want to travel 200 miles for a PT job, but think carefully about it before you comment. If as he suggested it was because they wanted to give him only a PT job then why have they come out a stated that he was unprofessional. If I was him and as he suggests London was not for him, but they stated I was unprofessional I'd be suing as it will surely effect his chances of being employed elsewhere. And also why have London (who don't exactly have loads of cash to squander) employed an assistant from Australia in the period from Long going there and being sacked?
London have no history of every slating anyone who has assisted them over their entire history, certainly not to my mind. They are always thankful. So why this now.
The guy is a liability and I would hate for him to be anywhere near our squad.
