| Quote: Rhino Roy "as i said before I cant really understand after all the historic half back issues at hull why this season the coach would go with two 'Rookies' with very little NRL experience. I just think that is going to cost you big time this season. Miller has been poor every time I have seen him and Rankin looks no better.....'"
Hull played yesterday with no props or a hooker. Not a day to be worrying about half backs.

In fairness he has more or less named certain players in the press today - maybe it will take a bit of time to weed them out.

| How many times have you seen Rankin? Ive seen him against Bradford and Rovers and he looked good, Miller showed a lot of potential last year and looked really good in spells, I dont think we will go with these two together and expect Horne and Rankin to start.
Problem is, who else was available?

| I don't think we the fans have learned very much from this pre-season.
I haven't seen much evidence of new structures or the entertaing, attacking rugby that Radford promised us.
Our defence seems worse than last season.
I think yesterday's match taught us:
1. Our pack is too lightweight
2. Our U19's aren't as good as we (or they) thought.

| If we start with Horne and Rankin how many games will it be before Horne gets his inevitable injury and we have to bring in Miller and start the process of trying to gel halfbacks again

| Pre season hasn't been what I imagined it would of been
would have expected the team he put out vs Doncaster, I'd have had a similar team to what he put out against Bradford, maybe a little 1st team based, less kids, would of gone about 20 against rovers full speed full team. Then wound back yesterday with games for those that needed extra minutes
To have a team with loads of kids that's just got back from a tough army camp without hardly any sleep against probably the best team in the championship was silly! Can't of done them any favours, told us nothing regards 1St team that'll play against catalan, and the one I'm more baffled by is Miller. He's been absolutely set up to fail every game! Only time he's been on the field during all the games is when we've had kids on or getting well beat! Don't get that at all!
But it's still just pre season games! Still doesn't mean to much one way or another!

Watts played about 10-15 mins before coming off and having his knee strapped and iced and Green didnt last that much longer with Bowden playing alot of minutes on a very very heavy pitch. Once we lost these 2 we were always going to be well and truly out played down the middle with the young lads coming in and no experience at 9.

I'm sure AP would have hoped to put more bums on seats after a good pre season, not likely to happen though now.

Definately not. But for Rovers the pre season would have been a total disaster.

If Rovers hadn't bombed a couple of chances in the first half it would have been a total disaster

Fev forwards got on top in the first 10 mins while all of our first team pack was on and never looked back. They ran harder and tackled harder and like Radford says the middle was hugely disappointing in the first half. Second half is irrelevant as it was essentially an U19 pack.
Don't get me wrong our first choice pack was mostly sat watching but we have weak depth in the prop department as the first quarter of yesterday's game illustrated perfectly.
