| Quote: *1865* "Lynch was ordinary last year and i'm happy he's moved on, Feka is a completely different player, you're right. Hopefully this signals a more aggressive approach, something Tuson has plenty of too.
Bobby Tyson-Wilson will be in the 17 by the end of the year, his hands are superb for a forward.'"
Massive engine in defence though, Lynch. Him and Houghton got through shedloads of work so amongst our props we have plenty of go-forward potential in Paea, Feka, Watts and Green, but no workhorse in a Dowes/Fitz/Lynch mould (players to do the unglamorous graft), that worries me a bit. BTW has bags of potential, and 'd like to bet Radders will seek out opportunities for him. I genuinely get the sense that integrating the academy with the first team and actively promoting from within is one of his main aims.

| Lads, what a ridiculous thread this is. I'm a red but I'm cringing at the OP, give the kid a break. A new partnership needs time to gel, and he needs a decent pack winning the battle to lay the platform, which I've barely seen of hull since having miller. I know you lot have a reputation for pressure on players but this is stupid. But he will not be the best scrum half in the league in 2 years, Walsh, smith, myler, sinfield, Tim smith all better

I don't mind losing a bit of defensive work for the extra aggression we should get from Feka. Under Gentle we went too far the other way and sacrificed far too much going forward.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "I agree.
Paea is a good replacement for O'Meley
Feka is a very different player to Lynch
I suspect/hope Tuson will be more effective than Tickle was last season
Green and Bowden both look at least as good as last year
Ellis was our best player yesterday IMO
Could be Bobby Tyson Wilson's breakthrough year
Two more than handy hookers
Not seen Watts yet, obviously, three experienced back rowers in Whiting, Westerman and Pitts.
Could be worse.'"
Understating it for me
Love ogre but that's a trade up
Our hooker interchange is the best in the league in my opinion
Ellis with his 1st pre season in 10+ years can only be a good thing-hoping for peacock like benefits to us
Tickle won't be missed based on previous 18months, very much like Tuson and more than a bit gutted this has happened to him
Westy looked good last year for me, but with an improved role instead of the boring carry and tackle game he's had to play he could make giant strides this year!
Feka can hopefully replace moa finally
And Green and Bowden can but improve at their age in the position they play
Watts will hopefully find his best form again.
That's a very handy pack in my opinion

| The knee jerk from the OP is similar to to the knee jerk that a lot of Hull fans had over the RL weekly critising Miller.
Like always the truth is in between, he's a high profile signing that has probabally flattered to decive up to now, understandable given the circumstances.
Regardless of him being an Aussie or how much money he's on, he's 21 with a few issues but he's got a top pedigree and shown glimpses of class, he needs to start the season with Rankin and be given a run of games, if that means a few in and out performances so be it, can't complain about signing over the hill halfbacks if we don't give the younger ones time to develop.
Because if there's one thing the last 15 years have taught us, we're not a big enough club to sign a top halfback at the top of there game like Chase etc.

Think he means with his game, he does need to improve his kicking, defence and be more consistent.

Exactly what I meant, TBF all areas that can be improved with age and experience.

| I was reading a Gary Schofield article yesterday about Andrew Johns, he works as a freelance halfback coach in the NRL. I think this is what Miller and other young halfbacks at our club could do with, their must be someone who has retired from the game who could do some work with our halfbacks, someone like Lee Briers would be perfect.

Mark O'Meley was a high profile signing
Craig Fitzgibbon was a high profile signing
Gareth Ellis was a high profile signing
Miller has not done anything to be regarded as high profile.
Miller is still learning his trade and has shown enough not to warrant the reaction of the OP. That said, he need to start the SL season running and making a difference in games.

I would put Miller on a similar level to Moa when we signed them. Like you say i could understand the criticism if he was a high profile player with years of experience but he had minimal game time in Aus (9 games for tigers over a season and half) before coming over.
As for the OP quoting Schoey

On what grounds? This is a discussion forum. The topic is Miller. I gave an honest opinion. East Hull FC asked me to explain my stance ( are you still keeping up?) and I gave him my response . He replied with a fair comment.
satisfied?
