Quote: airliebird, runninglate! "Some of this thread is absolute cack.
Yeaman has a try return of 1every other game over a ten yr period.
Constantly leaves attackers crumpled on the ground, often winning us the ball back.
Runs the best lines of any centre playing when on form n team clicking.
Biggest weakness is getting his wing away, and that's been blown out of all proportion, Briscoe n Raynor have hell of a lot of tries from playing outside him.
Certainly on his day on of the better centres, and an asset due to his attitude.
Like has been said people hoping injury is true is ridiculous. Especially coming into Easter. Thought crooks got well looked after against Warrington. He come across ok on telly but there I noticed how much he was looked after by westy whiting n later Galea. We can't invest that much effort into one player constantly, probably the reason he isn't a straight starting choice. So we'll have to hope he comes good in yeamans absence starting against a huge powerfull hudd team!'"

Great post - the number of tries that Yeamo has scored without a hand being laid on him is testament to the lines he runs

Quote: Rock God X "I don't see it myself. He's not particularly quick, has no step to speak of and has never been any good at putting his winger away. He's quite strong, and fairly difficult to stop close to the line, and his defence is quite good too (though he does still make a few poor decisions in that respect). I think Crooks is going to be miles better in a couple of years.'"

Totally agree and being saying it for a few seasons now. People who know me will back that up.

Always good for dropping an easy pass or two a game.

Time for him to play 2nd row i think.

Easily the best centre at our club and by some distance,Crooks has the potentail to be a very good centre, but has long way to go,Arundal needs to be able to tackle, before I even start calling him a centre.

The joker who said Gentle would drop Yeaman for Crooks and Arundal needs to take up a new hobby because he knows nothing about rugby.

P.S.Yeaman strike rate is fantastic and consider that a lot of the years, we had one of, if not the worst, attacks in the league.

But an attack that only went to his side of the field nonetheless.

Agreed.
Yeaman is head and shoulders above any of the other centres at our club.

I wonder why we attack our left edge?,do you think that successive coaches have maybe thought, that we will utilize that side, because we have a very good centre and winger, who'd of thought that?,I mean if he was crap,WHY base your attack down that side, that would be madness wouldn't it?

We have had numerous Second rowers/half backs play on the left edge over the years and still that left edge is our most dangerous, who is the person who has always been there? (you have one guess),they have come and gone, but Yeamans has always been there and scored try's,regardless of who he has been playing with.

Right to left is the most natural passing movement for the majority.

Most teams left edge is there strongest

Do you know nothing on rugby icon_lol.gif

Which means what? About as much meaning as you read into international selection, if not less.

It's as I said earlier, people not judging on a sliding scale and realising that whilst Yeaman isn't world class, he's still one of the best about. This country is severely lacking in quality centres.

But let's just take a look at that thread anyway, as it kind of proves the point about that latter sentence. In a thread specifically about English centres that currently stands at 7 pages, only 13 players have had a mention.

3 are retired, 1 well past his best, with these 4 actually being used for comparison to make said point.
1 plays in the NRL.
1 has played a whopping 1 game at SL level.
A further 2 have 30 games between them (less than 20 actually at centre).

Which leaves 5: Watkins, Cudjoe, Atkins, Bridge, and Goulding.

Taking into account how good players actually are, and not a semi-fictional estimate of how much potential a youngster will realise, Yeaman is still amongst the best centres SL has to offer for the time being. Whether that is more of an indictment of SL or a measure of Yeaman's ability is besides the point.

Also worth that Yeaman's try scoring exploits, while on the face of them point at consistency are sporadic. He tends to have a very good season followed by one or two poor ones try scoring wise, which is a problem for Yeamo as if he's not scoring tries he brings nothing else from an attacking point of view.

hopefully someone will take the opportunity and give Gentle a selection problem when Yeaman gets fit.
