Jay Pitts came through the wakey academy much like Ellis years ago. Showed alot of potential. Leeds as with Ellis came sniffing after Pitts had gone well in his senior debut season for us. Always thought Pitts would turn out a good SL player. Good to see he is going well.
As for PJ.
Had a good year in 2011 in a wafer thin cheaply thrown together squad. Was solid this year in a side with more Quality than last years. He's no line breaker, no great offloader but you'll get a good solid workhorse type player. Would have been nice for him to stay at wakey but we are strong at SR with the emergence of Moriano, Kirmond and a big Lauititi and some promising youngsters nearing SL.
There are alot worse English SL players out there than PJ. He won't let anyone down and I hope he goes well for you ( other than wakey)

| We seem to be signing plenty of forwards but a bit thin in the backs. Expect mcdonnell to come in and maybe a halfback swap but still leaves us with virtually no experienced cover at FB or in the 3/4's. As much as I like him, I don't want to see whiting spending time at full back or centre

My hobby horse every single year. Still not replaced Sid Domic. I'd like a solid experienced Carmont-style centre.

| He never shirked for us, and brought both mobility and solidity into the team. A really pleasant bloke as well - cheers PJ & all the best in your career.

How dare you come on here with your sensible post and good wishes? Don't you know that there's an unwritten rule that wakey fans can only post ill conceived bile on this forum? bren2k will be dishing you out one of his bans if he finds out

| Peej is a great young forward, and would have loved for him to stay at Wakey. Hard honest worker, never backs out of a tackle, and always puts his hand up to run the ball in. Great on his feet for a big lad too.
Good signing for FC.

| Its great that the true Wakefield rugby fans come and post all the best to Paul, just like we do with Manu, wish him the best but just not against us next season.

| This is a good solid signing. The problem with fans of this club is they really don't understand a salary cap. I'd love an NRL front row, NZ centres and State of Origin halfback pairing but it ain't gonna happen. Not every signing we make is going to be a world-class player; that's not possible. Aspinwall and McGoldrick have shown there are some diamonds among the rubble.
I can't understand the chuntering. We put up with Dowes and Washbrook for years. Look where they are now.

Beat me to it - Why cant people realise Sam wanted to go home to Australia and we could have offered him a Kings ransom but that is the case. Paul Johnson I cannot give an opinion but he was happy to come and PG must think some-thing of him. In PG we trust.

| A player who I hoped we would sign after seeing him last season and bits and pieces this season. Always makes good metres and seems to be good on his feet for a forward. Very good signing IMO.

Good post, and I'd also add that in the last decade players like Shayne McMenemy, Sam Moa, Colin Best, Danny Brough, Richard Whiting to name just a few arrived with little fanfare or from lower league clubs and ended up being fan favourites.

| To echo what others have said, not every player can be a superstar.

Yeah - Washbrook ended up as the top tackler in SL this season, the shirker.
As for Jake the Peg - thrilled as I am to have achieved notoriety on the Hull FC board, you appear to have me mixed up with someone else; I'm not and never have been a mod.
On the subject of PJ - you'll get good value from him; he's an honest, hardworking forward with a massive engine - he doesn't break the line and has no offload, but he'll put his hand up and run it in hard as and when required. Came to us when very few would and last season, looked good in a crap team. I hope it works out for him.
