It's a shame McKinnon didn't see the season out. For me, he would have had a field day running next to Watts.

| The thing is, you shouldn't need to sign players to back the runner up. It's one of the simplest things you could ever be asked to do to just run after the man with the ball. FFS, it's the natural instinct at a child's age, that's why most early kids' games you see are mainly a bunched mob moving around the pitch. Not backing up is down to laziness, poor fitness, or being just plain dumb. ANY player should be capable of running, even Forrest Gump grasped the concept.

| I watched a video the other day which was highlights of the 2006 season and I couldnt believe how many long range trys we scored, all simply through having plenty of support runners.

Haha what a great post, for so many wrong reasons, don't you think every hb in super league would be regarded as a world class support player if it was so simple, it's people like you who moan on here that we havn't had a organiser for years and lack leadership, and then in the next breath want our organisers chasing every prop with every carry, don't you think the hb, so are setting up the next 2 or 3 plays? It's not kids rugby it takes some thought to break down top class opposition defences and support play takes some skill and initiative, think you prove that coaches are up against it pleasing us hull fans

Your post might have a remote semblance of a point if I'd specified halfbacks as you seem to be. In point of fact, the very reason I disagreed with you previously about Myler was because I specifically said that I want more from a halfback than just support play. My point is that any and every player should be sufficiently able to read his own team's play and follow the ball, regardless of position. You should not need to dedicate a player, particularly one in so pivotal a position, to providing such a basic skill that should be drilled into your entire team. Watch Warrington, Myler is far from the only player who does it for them. He's a luxury player, we have much bigger needs at present, top of the list being a proper halfback and not some glorified poacher.

| Seems to me that in the modern game it's more the full back who offers the first support role whereas maybe 25/30 years ago it might have been more the halves (particularly the SO). Shaun Briscoe was good at it early in his career when he had decent pace he used to position himself early in the plays with a view to getting on the end of half breaks. It's really the job of all players to push on around the ball carrier though and I often think our centres are slow at supporting half breaks wider out. Have to say Tommy Briscoe certainly played a bit in his namesake's role for that short period on Monday. He scored one and on another day might have received the ball in a gap a couple of other times.

Sorry forgot to mention fb are good supporting option, my point was, like 99 % of the people on these forums including myself, your totally clueless about what it takes to coach a superleague team, as proven by your earlier comments. I'm not saying myler is the answer, just saying if is he a option, the likes of watts and lynch would love knowing when they do make a half break, a myler like player will be on there shoulder, a myler, brough partnership would do me

TBH I wouldn't like to see Myler & Brough as our halfback pairing either.

I personally think we'll have a half-back pairing of Chase & Holdsworth next season. I for one would be delighted with it!

Which is fine, i said in earlier post , I wasn't saying myler was the answer, but I'd we ended up with him, in my option he would be a good signing for his support play!! Fook me , I thought forums where about opinions, not bell ends like these to clowns on here!! Mentioning no names, standee and Carl = bell ends
