| Quote: Chris71 "Now I'm all for a debate and all but what exactly have we as fans so far under the ownership of Pearson & tenure of Gentle as Head Coach got to criticise this season?'"
Nothing I can think of really. Maybe some discussion around new signings. I think a few people were not happy after the Salford/London games with our attack. It was all fairly minor stuff.
People are clearly misunderstanding my point, all I said was that yesterday we performed badly even allowing for the issues we had. We didn't compete and we have done in every other game this season. We can't just have nothing but praise for the new regime, we are allowed to have debates. It doesn't mean i'm anti-gentle or impatient or being unrealistic etc etc. Just pointing out we were very poor.

Yes I have. No individuals, more a consensus of not wanting/daring to to criticise.'"
I think the consensus is that there is nothing to criticise, rather than the fact that people daren't criticise.
What, prior to yesterday, do you think has warranted criticism that hasn't been forthcoming?

Wow. So there's 'nothing you can think of' that has merited criticism, yet you have 'noticed a consensus' that people don't want to/daren't criticise the new regime? Your message is rather muddled.
Are you saying that this 'consensus' you have noticed is solely because some posters aren't prepared to lay blame at Gentle's door for yesterday's poor result?

I don't think anything warranted criticising but there was debate over pricing, Sunday rugby, Pitts signing, just small stuff like that. Personally i'm very happy with the way things have gone since AP took over and Gentle came in, only negative is Manu perhaps leaving but the club seem to have done everything in their power to give him a good contract so I ahve no issue with them there.

I personally don't think we performed badly just pretty much outclassed and not suprisingly so given the gulf between the teams fielded. I think the fact Wigan came out a scored in the opening minutes set us back and we just couldn't get a foot hold in the game with only 2 recognised props at SL level, a half back pairing that has very very little SL experience, a centre that had no experience at SL level plus a centre who put his hand up to play even though injured as no one else to fill the void along with 2 or 3 other players playing with knocks.
I think we played better against Wigan that we did against Huddersfield at the Galpharm just that defensively we simply were not physically strong enough to keep out a side that played very well on the day.

That would probably go quite a long way to explaining why some people haven't wanted to criticise, then, would it not? Rather than the collective belief that the new regime is somehow above being criticised, perhaps it's just down to people (yourself included) thinking that there hasn't been anything worth criticising.

for me, the time to criticise is when the same people make the same mistakes over and over again, which we haven't done as yet, yes things have been done that I don't necessarily agree with, but they've been done with the best of intentions and, so far, no single mistake has been repeated, that's why I've not being critical. I was livid at the Huddersfield game because we just went to sleep, but that's the first time we've done it.

Then I'm really struggling to see your point.
The majority of posters on this thread seem to believe that there is no 'blame' to be apportioned for the magnitude of yesterdays defeat, rather that it was just an unfortunate set of circumstances that lead to us receiving a tonking. Aside from yesterday (and including yesterday, in most people's eyes), there has been nothing worthy of criticising, yet you seem to have noticed this mysterious reticence to question anything AP and Gentle do, though you are unable to provide any examples that have lead you to this belief.

I don't think we 'went to sleep', we just couldn't keep up the intensity of the first 40 minutes with the players we had missing and the likes of Martin playing whilst very obviously injured.

Why should school have kicked out early? He might just live really close by.

we conceded a soft try, followed by another incredibly soft try immediately after, that's the passage of play I was referrring to, but as you say, fatigue played a part in it.
