And why did we have only two props?

Is it anything to do with the fact that we have knowingly and happily started the season with an embarrassing total of FOUR established props and THREE established back rowers in the whole squad?

Now we have an average injury list (much less than some other sides) and we're unlucky again are we?

Quote: Sebasteeno "The rovers game does matter. We were poor in that game and have continued to be so where as they were average to good and have continued to be so. The Wire game they was much better first half and we was in the second, London we were definately poor but luckily we was playing London so were made to look better and last night was just an embarassment. You all continue to bury your head in the sand but this is a poor poor team with only about three players decent enough to get in side capable of winning SL. The rest are just just poor to average'"

I hope for your sake you do not genuinely believe every word you write.

I don't care how good a coach Gentle is, it's going to take time to reverse that damage. Last night had '2011 written all over it' because under pressure those players reverted to the bad habits

ingrained into them over successive seasons.

I'm as disappointed as anyone but things like this were always going to happen. And anyone who had top 4 aspirations prior to last night was being unrealistic in any case.'"

After reading this board for many years I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with you. : wink:

We 'happily' started the season with four props? Or did we sign who was available and willing to come for the money we had spare? Jesus wept.

Funny how it takes a loss to bring those comments out.

First of all the Rovers game is of no relevance at all. Also we weren't poor against Warrington or London. We looked far from the finished article but certainly not poor.

If rather than losing our own scrum and conceding a try we had kept the ball and got one ourselves it would have been hailed as a good result in tough circumstances. But as we know people are fickle.

We lost a game we should win, we will do it again this year as will every team in the league. Get over it and move on.'"

Ignore Seb, he's just a poor Rovers troll.

Gentle and McCrae have been directly asked that question more than once (actually by me on the first Gentle interview). The answer was that we do have squad depth and they are happy with the squad in general.

Our academy forwards will step up when needed apparently.

The basic fact is that you just cannot start a season with a paper thin pack of forwards because the nature of the game dictates that you will often have a decent amount of them unavailable. Then what? Play with 15 men perhaps?

What a disgrace last night,a mediocre salford side turns us over again. Can someone tell me what has changed from the last few years,no wonder salford chose parish over gentle. Gentle says "Iam not frightened to play my youngsters" isn't that what agar kept saying, and never did it.?? What is going to happen when we play anyone decent.? A good result against warry which when you look at it is a point gained,on the plus side, seymour played well as did tickle and mckinnon, but the rest seemed to get dragged down to salfords level.Depressing.!

spot on,this was my fear when gentle took over, the expectations are to high after the last few years of dissapointment, they are expecting miracles from gentle, things are not going to be turned round in the space of a season, gentle is a very good coach but hes not a miracle worker, its going to take time, the club has been ripped apart from top to bottom.

And some fans. Narrow defeat away from home - hardly catastrophic derailment of the project, is it?
You'll do alright, with the odd blip along the way. You won't be routinely smashing SL opposition, this year at least, I wouldn't have thought.

Agar clearly wasn't brilliant for you - but he didn't send out players with bags over their heads and their ankles tied together. He was part of the problem, but there are other issues to address, and it'll take time.

Look at it this way, I want you to be impatient for success. icon_wink.gif

Gentle will need to learn from this game. im of the opinion that he wanted to use the young lads last night as he assumed we wound win comfortably. when he realise we had a game on our hands, he sh@t his load n left tied men out way too long. clearly we went into the game with a game plan but then deviated from it.
