Plenty of effort today I thought. Our turnovers killed us in the end. We lost our fulback to injury which meant a reshuffle and a loss of an interchange player.
The Tongans were superb as well I thought.
We were still in the game with 10 minutes to go despite not playing well.
I'm not a big fan of Agar, but the negativety that greets any defeat is ridiculous on here sometimes.

I think losing phelps really disrupted us, even though it didn't really need to. Turner could have gone to 6 and Horne to full back without changing much, but putting westerman at 6 really took the sting out of our attack. Turner looked sharp when he came on and I think that's what we needed whereas westerman looks too slow to play half back.

Hopefully Longy back next week so for me it would be him and turner in the halves, horne at full back, whiting on right wing and obst on the bench as interchange hooker.

Huddesfield are a form team, lets not forget that and I would expect them to be there or there abouts come playoff time. I saw a lot of commitment to day that was missing earlier in the season and a willingness to work harder, perhaps too hard at times. The loss of Phelps did us no favours and this one event certainly threw the whole balance out of kelter, you can blame the wingers but seveteen men where on that pitch at one point or another and they tried.

We can have a discussion about the coaches role, but we have been over and over that ground on countless occassions. I still expect to beat KR next week and I have hopes we should finish in the top eight, but thats all any visit to Wembley could be very embarrassing ifd it turns out to be either Wigan or Warrington because we are not in that league.

Maybe next season

Started to get worried when you pulled it back each time. Luckily for us you made mistakes and let us back in otherwise the result could easily have been reversed. Poor first half but an exciting second that we just edged.

Oh and got to say, you have the only ground in Superleague better than ours IMHO. Best of luck for the rest of the season. Raaay.

Positives.

1, We played poorly, made tons of unforced errors yet still kept them close for the majority of the game.
2, Richard Horne put in a good performance today.

After that i'm struggling.

Quote: RugbyVillasBoy "Don't start derailing the board with anything positive, how dare you! It does amuse me how the knives come out and the whingers can't wait to say how cr@p we were.

I'm not saying we played well today - far from it and although Briscoe, Sharp and Westerman stood out for me as being poor they werent the only ones. That being said we were in it all the way and had them on the back foot for a lot of the second half - and without the give away of two tries from try-returns we could have had it.

But what is puzzling is the attitude that we're utter garbage because we make mistakes, don't complete sets, make defensive errors etc, but the opposition doing them is purely down to them being 'under par' or 'not getting out of first gear'

Get a grip people! A match on any one day is a contest between two teams and the performances are relative to each other. We pushed a top of the table side all the way and could (maybe should) have beaten them. Not long ago we got stuffed by Wakefield.'"

Twitter - @MaddyHFC:

We performed poorly against the team sitting second in the table but still had opportunities to win the game late on. We can therefore compete with the best, but we need that bit more composure and patience to get the results.

The big negative was our appaulling ball movement and one dimentional play.

Another negative has to be our continous slow play the ball not just this game but most of our games whether due to fitness not sure but is a big problem of our game

You have hit the nail on the head, said the same yesterday, never any urgency to get up and play the ball fast.We are so naive in certain parts of our game and when things start to go wrong we still seem to keep doing it.We need more ball players/thinkers in the side, just as we have always done under this regime.

eusa_think.gif So, we looked decent (apart from the fact most of our players played as though they were missing their thumbs).

Moa started quite well but got put on his backside towards the end, Manu wasn't the danger that we know he can be, fantastic player by the way. As for Lauaki, he has improved his temperament this season but I had a feeling that if we kept digging away at him, he might lose it and he didn't let me down. Came at an important time in the game also when Hull needed a calm approach but when the biff came, they lost their heads as a team, and in particular the forwards.

I didn't waste a day and didn't give Hudgell £20. icon_biggrin.gifANCE: Oh, and laughed out loud at Zod and GML suddenly appearing all over the Rovers board like a rash - the ultimate definition of "fair-weather". icon_lol.gif
