I repeat for you young man
lived on Preston road for 49 years !! it isnt the area (which was actually fairly nice) it was the fact that some guys got abuse from turds sat on doorsteps which isnt a good thing for fans that then have to walk back through there to get back to motors and coaches

dont worry I have thick skin , 28 years at sea will do that for you
hope you understand what i mean and why...
I have bad memories of visits to widnes in the past and a scar on my chin to back it up , walking through less than friendly areas in widnes is not a plan in my opinion for that reason, and today the fella in front of me with bains with him wasnt impressed either ....
I have too many memories of coaches being bricked etc i think

have been there too bud, but i didnt have any problems today, in fact, the widnes fans i did speak too were spot on, times change and the last time i saw real bother at widnes was in 1989

Stewarding wasn't the best I've seen. They didn't seem to be able to trust us, all the police watching us, stewards running as fast as they could into the stand for, as far as I could see, no apparant reason. Then they made us get the bus from a different side of the ground to what we'd got off (presumabley to seperate us from Widnes fans) at and expected us to know the streets of a town some of us have never been to before! When we asked a steward where to go for the bus, she didn't seem to have a clue and passed us onto someone else.
