| I wondered how long it would be before people started laying into Sharp. Don't forget it's a learning curve for him as he's gone from playing in front of 3,000 Quins fans in London to the pressure of playing for a club with massive support like Hull FC.
Yes of course he's going to make mistakes, but he's playing in an average side and I don't think we can make him a scapegoat or judge him just yet.
I'd have swapped Sharp for Craig Hall as a winger anyday last year. We all saw how Hall's confidence shot down when Agar dropped him, I just hope he keeps faith with Sharp as he's youngish, non-quota and keen to learn.

I hope as well as keeping faith with Sharp Agar also tries to make his life a little easier by changing our defensive pattern that's far too condensed down the middle. Even the most experienced of wingers cannot mark 3 players.

Definatley. It's too easy to simply blame the winger.

Sadly it's not stopped our previous highly experienced wingers from getting slated by some. Blacklock, Sing and Calderwood all took stick because of their defensive work at FC. None of them were really at fault for our poor defensive pattern.

As I say, it's easy. I also usually find it's easy to blame newcomers at Hull.
However people would still rather us play Lyne, who has not impressed at all for me. Yes he's young, but so are Arundel, Evans, Charnley and Foster.

I love the fact that Castleford are happy to play Arundel at centre too, rather than feeling the need to play a future centre on the wing for their early years.

| I think it's fair to question Sharps reading of the game - away at wigan, when we had a man extra, he was badly out of position twice, there was simply no need for him to come inside. At Huddesfield we were over ran down that side and i thought he could have done better for Hodgsons try, to be fair to him, Tickle had a mare that game too down that side.
Against Cas, i would rather bow to Chase's skill and vision, he'd clocked that Sharp had been centre field and had the nous to chip on first tacle to his side whilst he was ot of position, brilliant half back play. Sharp didnt cover himself in glory though.
I'm not saying drop Sharp but i would be interested in seeing Jack Briscoe get a run.

Long came out of the line last Friday, watch it again.
Not drop Sharp but you want Jack Briscoe? So what do you want?

| It would be ridiculous to drop a player for a couple of errors - it would utterly destory his confidence and he has generally been a really good player for us this season imo.

| Quote: fc casual "Some people need to grasp the concept that Sharp is been left exposed on numerous occasions through no fault of his own. Our right side defence is poor and has been for years, I'm sure if stats were available then it would show our right side leaks the most points and I think we will continue to do so until we sign an out and out right centre instead of playing utility players there.
Imo sharp hasn't done much wrong, sure he has made some poor options but to contemplete dropping him is laughable, you don't hear the shouts for briscoe and whiting who have made poor decisions over the past few weeks.'"
Whilst the lad isnt totally blameless for a couple of gaffs to drop him would be counter productive on so many levels, think back to when Tom was learning his trade, did he get dropped ?? no you persevere and give the player the confidence to keep going till they solve % of the issues in hand on the training paddock.
Sharp is an outstanding young player with a massive future still very much learning the game AND playing very well apart from being caught ball watching on ocassion...

| I've been very disappointed with Sharp ever since he got his self tackled into touch against Rovers on the first tackle. He looks very green, weak under the high ball, lacking in confidence and defensively he lacks positional sense. I do think he needs a run in the 20's to regain some form. Players should be picked on form.
However I don't think Reece is ready yet but he is still very young.

| Quote: Sebasteeno "But he hasnt played that well though as he? Granted his centre has left him high and dry a few times but he also hasnt done himslef any favours with some of his half hearted attempts at catching balls and tackling. I wouldnt go as far as saying hes a scapegoat but hes a weak link in the side at present imo.'"
He has made one or two errors, the winning try at Wigan he was at fault for and he dropped an easy kick against Cas that led to a try. The problem is fans keep thinking he is out of position but he is iften left out on a limb by Whiting and the defenders inside him. He takes the ball up often and well and when he's had scoring chances he has taken them.

But he is not playing poorly, he has made the odd error as mentioned above. So has every other player tbh.

they forget all the other things he does so well , proper grafter that will only get better ...
Like Fitz hasnt made mistakes or ogre or Tom..of course they all do however on the wings it can look glaring when down the middle mistakes get covered... we have a quality young wing on both edges now that will both only grow and grow with time
mind you this forum needs a scapegoat each year , sharpy keep your head down!!!

| Im normally one of his bigger critics but he wasnt too bad against Cas. Knock ons from kicks can happen to anyone and he had no chance on their second.
