| This is little short of blackmail by the Allams. Moving Hull City out of the city will have a huge effect on the local economy.
They are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think they will get anywhere near 40,000 crowds in Melton.

| Starting to get concerned about the Allam's already.
firstly they don't need this new ground. City need maybe 5K extra seats (which an extra tier on the East Stand would provide) for the 'big' Championship games such as Leeds. They simply won't get 40K playing teams like Barnsley, even at cheaper prices. I'm not even convinced that they'd get 40K every week in the Premiership either.
Melton would be inaccessible to many fans (all fans would have to drive there) and would be a traffic nightmare, this would rip the heart out of the club.

Spot on, although the idea is obviously to establish city as a Premier League team, not try and get 40k watching Barnsley

That'll be two then, one in the West, one in the East. After all, we all pay council tax

Why would Allam compensate you lot with a new 20k purpose built stadium? you are not tenants of the KC

| It was stated on the radio by a council spokesman, that the Allems had not tables any bid for the KC.
At the end of the day, they do not have THAT much financial clout. They apparently are looking for ownership of the KC to borrow on the back of to extend it All joking aside, its a fairly restrictive property. There is hardly going to be a high demand should the KC come up for sale, so it doesn't offer that much security for a bank other than continued use and bums on seats. If they borrow on the back of ownership and go breats up (meaning City would go breasts up as the loan would be tagged to them) the lender would be screwed.
With this in mind, needing the rights of the KC to borrow on to extend it, indicating that they do not have the readies to hand to extend, where do they think they will get the £60m they claim they would need for the Melton project? Quite frankly, that would just be the diposit

The Independant says: Today the east, which contains the biggest council estate in Europe, is poor, a place of high unemployment and low expectation. The west, which has the city centre and the university, is posh and prosperous. In the Nineties when both teams were not doing well, and the obvious thing to the money men was a merger, the response from both sides was the same: "We're black, we're white, we'll never merge with shite".: |

Where's the irony???
In ay event this'll never happen. The Allams simply do not have the personal wealth and I do not see how it would present a viable investment in Hull for lenders or hoteliers and the like.

The council repurchased the freehold of Craven Park when you went into administration to stop you from going under. They then organised a peppercorn rent courtesy of KCD (formerly Gaingroup). Your East Stand extension is funded by the NHS and the RFL. Your North Stand is courtesy of a central government loan facilitated by the Council. I think you've already done rather well out of public funding. At least we pay a commercial rent for our use of the council's asset.
