Just had a look and we have scored less points so far than 10 other teams. Seems like a problem area to me

| Quote: Staffs FC "We lost to Leeds (and KR) primarily because our defence was poor. No line speed, poor structure particularly right side and regular failure to win the collision. As a result they made plenty of metres and played on the front foot with fast ptbs. We abjectly failed to do that in return. Defence is our biggest problem this season - 66 points against in 2 games. Fitness and strength appear to be well below the required levels.'"
It was one step and wait for the Leeds player to come to us where as we were painfully slow and same old same old I'm afraid.

Not if we defended better. I am not saying our attack is great but it's not the problem, out defence is the issue right now.

Yes because they support breaks and convert half chances into tries. Plus they have a higher skill factor.

| Usually go to most of the Away games including Catalans for a week and London weekends,Just can't get myself motivated or enthiusiastic about attending games now, think the coaching is now affecting us fans.
for those reasons my cash will be staying firmly in my pocket for the forseeable future regarding away games.

Support play is a fundamental part of attack. Which is more or less the gist of my earlier point - we have players who can make breaks but lack the structure in attack (particularly support play) to take advantage of them. That's down to coaching for mine.

| Quote: Staffs FC "No you're right. For me defensive line speed is a massive marker on how a team is motivated for the game and how they are approaching it mentally. Leeds didn't play rush defence as such but still moved quickly towards our attacking line - sometimes pinching a yard from the ref but that's how it should be - set after set. Apart from a big set in the second half when we tried to pen them in our defensive speed was poor and at times non existent. It's an easy comparison for fans to make when watching and it's a basic part of the game. It's like we don't have the confidence in our fitness to defend with the necessary aggression for the full match. Fundamental shortcoming if you ask me.'"
Spot on, and also your earlier post. When you add in our lack of basics like support play and dummy runners in attack it really underlines just how poorly coached we are.
Which is why I'm no longer willing to give Agar a few matches before judging him. These faults have been there during his entire tenure and not only has he failed to address them it seems like they have actually got worse.

I agree. Our defence, particularly our goal line defence, has been very good for the last couple of seasons. When we lost we usually lost quite narrowly. Now we are shipping 30 points a game.

| I cannot believe some of your fans are not planning to attend.
there are two possible outcomes on Sunday
1. Hull win ( hull fans happy)
2 Hull lose and Agar goes ( hull fans happy).
I wish i had such a potentially good outcome evry time i go to watch the Giants

Its been that way for years and when we did show some intensity and line speed we pinned them back and looked on top.
You can't play for 80 minutes at that level of intensity, but somewhere between the two would be a good idea, instead of the "let the attacker run 8 yards before we do anything" tactic.

I would have mixed feeling about that. Always want us to win, but that would be papering over cracks and dlaying the inevitable.

Never really want our team to lose....however if we lose and it gets rid of Agar I will be celebrating Sunday evening as am sure 1000s of the faithful will be.

Ah, you make it sound so simple. It's likely to take a lot more than a third straight loss on Sunday for this board to get rid of Agar. He seems untouchable. If we manage to win the game, all that does is delay the inevitable. In fact, a win would probably see the board decide that we're serious title contenders and offer Agar a 3 year extension.

It could be easier....that would make it 3 wins from the last 11 games

Get rid of that last sentence, just in case they're reading this
