My point was that it seems some clubs are banking on a new ground getting them a franchise as that will be enough in otherwords they hope their stadium plans will smokescreen the rest of their franchise applications.
Like you said those looking at it logically can see straight through it but it seems that the clubs we are talking about have almost convinced themselves that a stadium will put everything right.

| Suprised nobody has mentioned Salford.
Still not in the stadium, poor league positions, small crowds etc.
Along with a better youth system Wakefield and Cas are better teams and get better crowds.
Personally for me it would be between Wakey and Salford, but would expect it to be bewteen Cas and Wakey. It's an awful situtaion to be in and an awful system, just bring back promotion and relegation, the new teams have had chance to devlop, and teams are still signing overseas player instead of bringing youth through, this was one of the main reason for franchaises, it isn't really working IMO.

Salford have been very sensible in they way they are doing things, unlike other teams who have spent way over their means this season Salford spent roughly half the cap this season and still played reasonably well. They are banking on a new stadium bringing in bigger crowds which will in turn lead them to spend more on the cap and become a competitive team in the SL.

I think it's actually more of a case of they know that they're shafted [iwithout [/ia new stadium.
All the clubs have the criteria against which they'll be judged, and all of them are aware that shiny stadia weren't enough for Widnes and Leigh last time around. Building a new stadium is a necessity but I'm pretty sure that nobody at the clubs concerned believes that it will be enough on it's own.

| Wakeys success makes it all very intersting now though because all clubs meet the criteria on grounds, but some make only the basic criteria, some still have outstanding works that they promised at the last time of granting franchises that have not been completed, and some hav'nt even started!
It will be interesing in March if Widnes come up which I believe they have to, because they meet everything needed and as far as stadiums are concerned theirs is better than a couple in the Super league even if Salford, Cas and Wakey get new ones!

We're not on a warning, but. And CP has been improved - the East stand extension(s) being the most obvious examples. Plus the North Stand, for which permission but not full funding has been secured (see also Cas), was described by HKR's new cheif executive as viable again in September. 'Viable' is a long way short of 'happening', but at least we know efforts are ongoing.
Still, we can't be complacent - can't see a problem this time, but 2015 we could be under real pressure. Same goes for Bradford, IMO.
