Very pleased with this, looked the best OOC wing option all season IMO. Strongly disagree with those who would have preferred Meli, Sharp's pros outweigh Meli's IMO and he'll be much, much better value in all likelihood.

Maybe he can bring a friend with him too.

Do any of the fans in the know, know whether any other clubs were after him and if so who?

nxt year it will be
1.tansey
2.sharp
3.turner
4.yeamen
5.briscoe
lynne not ready yet, agree i would like to see briscoe in the centres but for now im happy with him on the wing.
as for sharp well hes a direct replacement for calderwood, calders unfourtuntly has had serious injury problems and with him reaching 30 soon and with 2 hamstring tears in the last 2 years i think sharp is a great replacement as hes young, fast and also makes great yards aswell coming from your own 20 which is important bit like briscoe does.hopefully this signing will have an positive effect on lms coming aswell. heard that bradford, huddersfield were looking at him, also saints were looking at him last season

I must admit, one of my first thoughts was if this would help us persuade LMS to come to the KC (assuming the club are trying). Sharp is potentally an excellent signing, he'll be on far less dosh than Meli would have wanted, younger and hopefully therefore less injury prone and give us some long term stability. The best thing about our potential back line isn't just the fact that they're English (or in Sharp's case Nigerian!) it's the fact that they're young!

Totally agree. Think signing a new winger over 30 is always questionable, and Sharp is now potentially another spot in the team sorted with a fed-trained player for 5+ years. We can see from the top sides that team stability is the best way, and buying younger is the only way to do that.

Which is why we MUST identify 6/7 for 2011 season onwards, to learn 2010 season.

I don't think Thurston has much to learn tbh. icon_biggrin.gif

Seriously, think we need to get cover, but that's it. Hopefully after Long leaves we can get another top class 7 (probably an Aussie) for 3 years. Then after that hopefully having learnt off Long and this new signing, Williams will be ready.

With Hall going, I think next season there is a strong possibility that, if Turner or Yeaman get injured, then Briscoe would move to centre, and Lyne on the wing. Whiting on the bench.

Last I heard LMS deal was still up in the air, I believe negotiations have and are taking place but nothing sorted yet.

Spot on... Sharp is a good young fella with a great attitude to rugby too, and he is very quick too which is always nice with wingers icon_lol.gif gives us plently of pace again on the flanks but i must say i feel sorry for calderwood as he became so unlkucky with injuries huh..
The issue with Meli is that his own valuation of himself far surpassed what value we place on him unfortunately , we wanted him and he wants to come but not on the money he is being offered!!!

One down today, negociations ongoing today may be two by the end of the day!!!!

Happy with this signing. As others have said, he's a good young player with plenty of pace and good feet.
Said week's ago that i'd rather sign him than Meli.

Lets hope we can give him some good support...after all he wont be used to having more than 50 fans shouting at him if he fooks up....maybe less if it was a cats/quins game!!!! icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif
