He did didn't he, he was involved in the tackle that held a Wire player up over the line, some quality scoots, his passing off the floor is fantastic, and the effort for McGuire's try showed why Leeds have him tied to a long term deal.

When Berrigan has just come back from a serious injury you mean?

The evidence was right there in the game that you presumably watched. It doesn't surprise me that you apparently didn't notice.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "I guess the point is that Houghton, in 2 of his last 4 games has taken the game by the scruff of the neck. You're right in that hookers are in a good place to do this, but by this time next year we'll have paid Berro 600 grand and I'd like to see him do the same. He played at hooker for the first 11 rounds behind a strong pack and maybe I'm wrong but don't remember him being a major influence in those games. 4th game back from injury next week so should be back into his stride.'"
Well then why use Fridays game to highlight the point?
I'm not convinced by this talk of Houghton taking the game by the scruff of the neck anyway TBH.

You presumed right that I watched it. You also apparently presumed an opinion rather than based one on fact. With this being a particular bugbear of mine, I payed more attention to the respective performances of both players than anything else in the match. You'll also notice that the majority opinion is that Danny outshone Shaun.

I've made no mention of Berrigan. He has no part to play in this discussion at all (especially given that he spent most of his time at 13).
I was specifically talking about two instances in which Houghton took very poor options. If you 'payed' [sic] close enough attention, I expect that you'll have noticed these.

Simple. When lots of people on here are currently watching Houghton they are only looking for anything he does well and "miss" anything he does wrong. Whereas when they watch berrigan or horne before he got injured they only look for the bad points and "miss" anything they do well. Its close attention just a very selective one

Whereas others prefer the rather snooty view that Houghton's direct and energetic play is somehow less valuable than Berrigan's because of Berrigan's NRL career, and those praising Houghton's current form are halfwits.
Houghton is young and still has plenty to learn, but IMO is developing fast into a very good hooker at this level. He needs more consistency, which should come with time, and sometimes better decision-making but he's learning with experience. I like Berrigan, and there's a really good example of what he does best here in the "We are Hull FC!" montage on about 2 minutes 20 of a lovely delayed assist to Tickle.

I just want to see more of it, week in week out, now we've got a pretty good pack. As for Horne, I'm a big fan and was absolutely delighted by his peak in form earlier in the season. I am concerned about his long term fitness however, not really from FC's perspective but for Richard himself as I hope he's not pushing himself too hard.

Houghton is stepping up and developing brilliantly. On current form he is our better hooker and hopefully he'll continue to develop into an oustanding player for us. However he isnt there yet and people just seem unable to be critical or pick areas of improvement.
Berro doesnt deserve to be our highest paid player as at the moment he doesnt bring the same the team as the other senior players. However people seem to only want to notice anything poor with his performance's since hes returned from injury when in reality we should really be hoping he finds some strong form for us as were still gonna have him next year.
Just really annoying how people are quick to dismantle certain players and others are immune to criticism

Not sure why it names our 3 players as 5th in the list for their respective positions. Thats pretty much mid table isnt it?
Would be interested to see the full list for each position though, i'd be interested to see which players we have at the bottom of lists.

I don't understand how it's not Josh Hodgson, what with him having left Houghton trailing hopelessly in his wake. Gekko needs to have a word with himself
