| Quote: Kosh "By and large - yes.
Particularly by Agar, who was the main target of my comment.
I was purely referring to Agar scapegoating him, and I disagree about the need to sub him.'"
But if Agar came out publically and commented about Briscoe's shortcomings then he would get slagged off for making Briscoe a scapegoat! We don't know what he says to him in training.
However he is not developing as he should imo and a new coach would benefit him I reckon.

| Quote: PAUL M "IMO it was wrong to play him, he needs to be blooded at some stage but don't think he was ready and it showed at times. I have big hopes for the kid and tonight has not changed that but Agar should have gone with experience and picked Hall.'"
Hall should be playing at centre. As a winger he has generally been poor. What I dont understand is why Tuffour is here? He clearly isn't even first choice wing cover despite the fact we only have one specialist winger in the senior squad.

| Main positive tonight for me is that I'm in New York (with free wi-fi ) and missed the game altogether.

| Thought the young lad did not do too bad for his first SL appearance, he showed some signs bagged his first try..he needs to work on his defence, he will have learnt it is a massive step, the mere strength of the hits and pace of the game...He will learn loads from his experience he is still young and will turn out to be a great player in a few years time.

| Frankly I have to say that looking a what is coming up this was a must win for me, it was a big game in the bigger scheme of things and Reece should never have played, Whiting on wing and Hall at centre or vice versa for me. Poor, poor decision by our coach. Plus he seems to lack the ability to get the team in the right frame of mind in these games in which the players are not motivated by the occassion or opposition. Reece did Ok but his side was targetted and it could well knock his confidence.
In answer to the the thread title ....Moa! Everyone else on and off the field to a greater and lesser extent should have a long hard look at themselves I think.
Four diifficult games coming up and we could have been facing them in joint top position but for our inability to turn up in the same frame of mind for all games! Its not all the coaches fault but its not all the players faults either.

Exactly, Wilf.
Agar has proved himself time and time again to be inept at picking a team or motivating them. There will always be differences of opinions but some of his selections are plain crazy.

" If practice makes perfect, and no one is perfect, why practice? ": |
|
| The back line is a shambles, Reece is a good player, as are a number of our 20's, but he's not ready yet, especially with the back line we have, a young inexsperienced centre that plays on the wing, a second centre who's a utility player (and i rate Rich), no credable replacment for a first team winger, a first select centre who carn't or won't pass, scores try's by bulldozering, doesent make breaks with foot work, also a promissing centre who is floated in and out of the team for no particular reason, not good realy.
How can we exspect to be consistent when the coach, carn't or wont play players in the positions they need to play, i'd sooner loan them out, Briscoe needs to be playing centre day in day out, we will end up with what we have had, a team of half good players, no specialists, by the time the younger ones lift their heads up they are 23 with no set position, not good, Washy, Lee to name a couple, the good youth will go, if the policey continues.
When Saints or Wigan float youngsters in, they do seem to stick around, coaching from first team to youth seems far too disjointed to me.

Agree 100% about Moa Wilf. Thought he was our best prop by far last night and yet Agar played him for what, 15 minutes? Baffling to say the least and he will probably drop him for Cusack next friday too.

Been banging on about our squad imbalance for months, re the back line lack of experienced quality and the need to replace Raynor and use the last quota spot for a back. The pack has been superior enough in games like Saints away and Hudds at home for this to be compensated for, but when the forward advantage is negated, our weakness in the backs has been, sadly, easily exposed, like Wigan away and last night apparently. Agar has chosen this squad and the weakness in the back line is down to him.

I hope he plays against us next week, looked good taking the ball out of defence but damn dodgy under the high ball and made a huge error in not taking a simple ball which led to a try.
