| Quote: Thetalentboy "So setting up tries against Salford and Huddersfield in meaningless early round super league games is more important than costing us a semi final...
Games are won and lost by moments.
If Fonua had defended his wing better, if Griffin hadn't dropped the ball, all ifs and buts, to stifle Connof's creativity is nieve at best.
All players are culpable and Connor our most creative player should not be singled out for 1 pass.

He cost us the match at Wigan, threw about 3 forwards to fonua against catalan, was nowhere near the high bomb for welsbys hat trick against saints week before, cost us the match on the saturday on the grace intercept
Yet people seem to ignore all them howlers
I’m hoping posters continue to ignore you.

| I think Connor is still learning the fullback roll, he’ll get better, but will learn from the errors he as made, just soooooo wish he had that extra bit of pace, would become one of the best fb in game

Not just 1 moment though is it
As I said earlier he also cost us the match at Wigan giving away a stupid penalty near end of the match
Also made other howlers like I said
Yet weirdly some of our fans ignore all that

He didnt cost us the game, it's a team game, you have clearly never played a team sport before if you dont understand that.
He has made mistakes, but which players havent, but he has contributed so much to the attack. Has to stay in the middle with our current set up

The only weird thing is the constant rubbish that you push. Connor is key to what we do and his good far outweighs his bad.

He'd never get the gig for any of the 16 NRL clubs at full-back.
They just about all threaten from open or deep broken play. He aint got that in his locker.
Horses for courses innit.
Doesn't stop his being a threat for us joining the line with his soft hands or cut-out pass to his outside backs ( or Regan Grace )

Hes set up 11.
We didn't lose the semi due to that one act. You may as well blame Griffin if thats your attitude.

I know this guy wasn't a world class FB but pace or rather a lack of it didn't stop Wellens from being a very good FB for his club. I kind of see Connor as similar to Wellens in that both lack pace but Wellens knew the role of FB very well so could anticipate and be in the right place at the rights times both in defence and attack. I think Connor will grow in to the role but he also has the advantage of having great natural ability. Yes he sometimes makes mistakes and has thrown a couple of intercepts but to say he has cost us games because of that is sheer folly. Who was it that kicked the 40/20 to get in the position to be in with a chance by the way?
I'd rather have a player who is prepared to make a play than one that just doesn't, against St's he got that pass wrong but it happens its part and parcel of sport. The positive of that is teams will now wonder if he will make the pass or run it himself and commit which opens up their defences to a player with Connors ability.
We have lost that broken field running that Shaul has to his game but his link play is his deficiency hopefully this can be improved under Hodgson if he is to stay.
Ideally we'd mould both Shaul & Connor in to one player if we could but we can't.

If it could be done, they’d have as many arms and legs in the tackle as Walmsley.
Seriously though, excellent post.

I think that is an almost impossible task re Walmsley

Grow into a position he's 26 not 16
Shaul has everything except the final pass
Connor lacks speed, support play, broken field running and his discipline is very poor
But Connor is a better passer and kicking game
Shaul overall is better deffo
