"I definately feel there will be another try Ray" - Jonathon Davies, Saturday 27th August 2005.: |
|
| if you are a big game player you can afford to have an ego as big as a house and GS fits into that bracket imo.
GS was one of the best players to play the game and again imo we were privelaged to have him wear our colours for 4 + years! some say his best years. His try ratio per game throughout his career was outstanding - not just in our colours. The hurt of him leaving still bears significance all these years later, a mark of his esteem to us at that time.
Thought last night he showed to anyone prepared to listen how he thought about his time at our club and the respect he had for being here. I loved the way they used to wait to be invited to change with the first team. What a fantastic bunch of players that team was and yes he was lucky to be here at that time but he added extra greatness to a really great team.
Oh to have that style of rugby these days for us and for GB.
One of the greats.

| Not many in Schofields class but Evans was still top class. Deceptively quick. He'd have got Edwards at Wembley 85 if someone hadnt clipped him in back play.

| I can't dispute what a fantastic player he was and I consider myself lucky to have seen him play for us. There's no doubting the man is barking though. Another one who's always the victim.

| Was a great player. "Lang Park try of the century" was possibly the best I've seen. Bit daft as a person like.

| I'm sure I saw Carney backing his chair away at one point.

| Slightly off-topic but i reckon Brian Carney is ready to take over from Eddie Hemmings as the front man for Skys rugby coverage.

| We have to remember that great sportsmen are not always nice friendly well balanced people. Sometimes they can be well below our expectations as human beings and it can come as a suprise to find out our heroes are prats.
Garry has his own story to tell and tells it the way he wants to by attempting the worst possible stance on everything in public. He is not like that if you catch him on his own and with no mic or TV camera close by.

| Yes he can be arrogant but he was one of the best players this country has had and if we had players like him nowadays we would be better off at club and international level.

Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before.

My thoughts as well Linebreaker.
From a style of rugby and entertainement value of that team, how far down have we gone.

| Schofield was class as a player pure and simple, the best centre I've seen play for our club in the time I've followed them. Anyone who says different is still clearly bitter about his departure. I yearn for the day we have players of his like in our team once again.

Russ Walker and Ian Marlow, were a great 2nd row partnership.
Just shows, you dont need to sign international players, just good coaching to perform well.
Walker i think came from Barrow, and Marlow was from Hull RU.
