The NRL isn't short of half backs? Yes it is very few clubs have a real cover options at 6 and 7.

What we need to do and have needed to do for years is start to produce our own and have patience with them.

We need 3 maybe 4 genuine 7's in full time training to avoid distruption to the starting 17.

Signing the top uk 7 currently playing in the championship and offering him full time training with us, back up to Long while leaving him on a dual contract with his championship club. That way he'd be able to come in, know our game plan and have full time fitness.

agar claimed last night that the young halfback mentioned wasnt upto super league standard.he said moore from batley has had 2 chances at sl level,and hasnt took them.maybe there is just a genuine lack of potential in our game altogether??

I don't know much about the lower levels mate, it's hard enough watching sl out here but I'd be interested to know what counts as a chance at sl though.

or a lack of coaching ability to improve on the basic raw talents?

problem with finding a 7 is they need oxymoronic traits - brainless intelligence.

They have to have the intuition, imagination, speed of thought, guile and intelligence to out-think defences whilst at the same time organising and leading their own team. Then they have to be brainless enough to run into the line to make the best use out of all of those talents where they continually get hammered by defenders determined to keep them out of the game. Who, in their right mind, would want that sort of job for the wages they pay for the short duration of the RL player's career?

Oh... and I forgot " a good kicking game" which provides yet another opportunity to be take a dangerous hit to the leg or head (or anywhere else for that matter).
