Maybe. A couple of other possibilities…

1. Thirkill sees potential in Myler (as Chris suggested) and although this is a high profile position, it is relatively low stakes from a financial perspective. Tough gig to lead any organisation when so much of your authority is derived from somebody else though.

2. Put in an experienced COO under Myler, perhaps someone approaching the end of their career who isn’t too fussed about burnishing their credentials for another position if the wage is right. They can interpret, anticipate and implement Myler’s vision (like a rugby league Reginald Jeeves), fall on any grenades (like a Simon Grix of business administration but with more intent) and make sure Myler is the one in the limelight when things go well (like Peter Taylor did for Brian Clough).

We have been crying out for a quality strike centre so i would be very disappointed if someone like McDonald became available under a quota dispensation and he went to HKR whilst we were blinkered looking at Sneyd and Cross.
Dont think in any case Sneyd would come back but is he now what we need at 34 on a 2/3 year deal

Only thing that would really put me off about Nene would be his lack of club loyalty, he seems to change clubs every season.

I could see Rovers offering a swap with Gildart going the other way.

It was only a few weeks ago that after playing well for PNG he was courting NRL offers. I suppose though if the quota dispensation scenario did happen it would only be a season anyway so you’d have to review it after a year, you’d get a year of quality out of him.

I’m not sure the Salford situation will play out like that and don’t think anyone will get quota dispensation for anyone anyway. You have to look at where the story originated and who’s pulling the strings doesn’t take a genius to work out, that’s just the suggestion of one particular club, maybe after a few drinks in the bar.

Mcdonald would be off as soon as an offer comes in, I would be very wary of signing him, however Id good he is.

I can give or take Sneyd, would improve us, but not the exact halfback we need, like I was with Lam I wouldn't be too disappointed if he didn't come.

Nikorima could be an option, think we were close to signing him on loan last year.

Surely we would of spoke to sneyd first to see if he was happy to come us before we tabled an offer, why would we waste our time? Unless we've been used to get more out of leigh or for us to bump up the fee for our mate Derek?

We have no right to expect loyalty after cancelling several contracts and paying players off in the past few seasons.

There is very little loyalty in sport. Clubs and players use each other in equal measure for on field success and financial reward.

I'm looking at the Sneyd situation and thinking he's not coming.

Therefore who else is out there that we can get?

I'm really keen to see what Balmforth can do, could be a big regret if we don't give him a chance and we lose him. If we go with Cust and Seizer short term, he should get a decent run off the bench.
