As regards Shaun Berrigan, let's not kid ourselves by saying that he's an average player. I just think that it's been 'wrong club at the wrong time' for him to be honest and over the course of the three years he hasn't lived up to the hype that surrounded his arrival. There are probably many reasons why, and let's not forget that for the first two years he was here the club was a complete shambles. Christ, he even ended up having a stint at full-back in one game (Wigan at home I think) which kind of summed it all up really. He never was going to be another Richard Swain as they're completely different players - Swain was a born leader, whereas Berrigan has been at his best when playing off the back of other people. I've read both of Wayne Bennett's books and he is a big admirer of Berrigan and the contribution he made at Brisbane during their glory years. He also says that Berrigan wasn't really a pivotal figure in that team because he's not a pivot type player who likes making the calls etc. Berro was basically good at playing off the 6,7 and 13 around him with the other team on the back foot. If he does go home then I think we do need a pivot-esque player to replace him as that is where we're lacking and everyone knows it. I don't think anyone can ever knock the effort that Berro has shown during his time with us (he carried the team on his own for most of 200icon_cool.gif, but we've simply never seen the best of him. It's a shame but sometimes that's the way it goes I suppose!
