| My first game for a while (did my achilles in so unable to get very far).
Was a guest of a Leeds sponsor so I was on a freebie.
Leeds played the conditions so that the game was played in the Hull half for the majority of the game.
We, not including Lancaster in this next comment as for a debut, up against an international winger, I though he did well. But that has to be the slowest back line SL has ever seen.
As is well documented, our halves lack invention. But to be fair, Leeds were conservative with the ball, but spread it further to gain more yards.
We defended fairly well. But we never really threatened due to poor kicking game and hence poor field position. On the one occasion we applied some pressure in the second half, we let Leeds off the hook with a needless penalty for a late charge on the kicker.

Perhaps they phoned him from the M62 on their way to Blackpool with Radders?

That late charge that I don't think has been penalised in any other game from any team all season? NB - i'm not saying that made the charge OK but consistency from the officials again?

Maybe.....
There was plenty of noise at the time to get rid of Gentle, because he had lost the dressing room?
Perhaps AP looked at Wane at Wigan and thought someone like Radders might have the same effect. Obviously with hindsight it was the wrong decision.
But even though I wasn't comfortable with his appointment I thought why not. And actually we didn't start the season too badly, its just the wheels have come off.
Suddenly we have a rubbish coach and rubbish players? I don't buy that.
I just think Radders needed a little more experience and I don't think a Noble/Radford combo would be a bad call in the short term to stop the rot.
Lets face it, Wayne Bennett and the next Peter Sterling are not gonna rock up any time soon, and the sport isn't awash with top coaches and 7's we can attract and afford is it.
I find the current situation hugely frustrating like everyone else, but it's collective responsibility from coach and players and I can't help feeling a little sorry for Radford and do think he will become a better coach for it.

Do people believe it was a combination of player power / radford that got gentle the sack? clearly there cannot be smoke without fire, as all sorts of "lost the dressing room" stories coming out? I am not sure myself. But, if true what Pearson should have done, is sack anyone coming out with an unprofressional attitude. Players play for who is in charge of the club, and that is the end of it. You have a grievence then air it in a professional manner. If there is this attitude of players ruling the roost then it won't change until the players leave. If it was true, then Radford clearly thought as he was a chum of the players, all would be well. Clearly not.

| Standee . I am sure you won't like this but your opinion on Radford echoes my original sentiment long before the season started. I said ,on his appointment ,that he would put you in danger of a relegation fight rather than a playoff berth. Added to that I said that the pressure would be on him before the season was half done due to Mr Allams insistence on having the pitch relaid forcing you to play the majority of home games before June and that has again shown to be true. You now have 4 away games on the bounce and really need to win 3 of them (Broncos, Wakey and Widnes, can't see you getting anything in France).

I agree, once players start deciding they're not going to play for the coach you've had it unless the culture within that club is strong enough to squash it flat as soon as it's ugly head surfaces. That means a united coaching, physio, captaincy and ownership team who exude a zero tolerance approach towards any such murmurings, make it clear that the coach is the boss and take action against individuals that dissent. It's how you imagine the likes of Wigan, Leeds etc. operate.
If there was player dissatisfaction against Gentle, for example when Yeaman was dropped, it should have been nipped in the bud then. You would hope that Radford, as assistant, would have led that exertion of authority. If he didn't, then he has played his part in the creation of the monster. I think you're right that, as their chum, Radford thought he'd be exempt. Naivety in extremis.
It's one hell of a job to get rid of all culpable players, and you'd throw a crecheful of babies out with the bathwater. In Hull's case, this has gone on so long through the tenure of coaches since Kear. I think it has become the norm within our culture and it is this cancer that is spread to joining players. Far better for Pearson to bring in an experienced first team coach (and by that I mean experienced in the management of strong-willed men as well as all the rest of it) and make sure all the management teams surrounding him are true to his leadership. Bar none. It would probably only require the chucking out of one baby that way.
Many players will take the urine if they can get away with it. It's human nature. It'scontrolling that by transforming the management culture at the club that is key. All in my opinion.

Which begs the question who do they want to play for?? they didn't like softly-softly Aussie Gentle, they don't like 'tough' local lad Radford. When are they going to get on with it and do the jobs they are well paid for?
i'm sure all of us have had to 'grin and bear it' with a manager they don't like at some point in their careers.

Quite. Essentially they should do as they are told. If they are doing as they are told to the best of their ability, then either they, and/or the people telling them what to do are not capable. Choosing to not do something to the best of their ability, is gross misconduct, IMO in the industry they are in.

sometimes you have to agree based on facts, I wouldn't trust Radford to soft boil an egg, we have 4 away games, and all I can see are four defeats.

| I think the players as a group aren't good enough to sustain the required level in SL over a season. They played well in some games for Gentle but really cr@p in others. Same as they do for Radford. I know it's a bit simplistic and lacks the cutting edge of a good thriller but that's my take on it.
Powell's a better coach than Radford at this moment in time (and quite possibly always will be) but I'd take six or seven of his current squad over ours right now because they're more talented than our incumbents in the same positions. I'm thinking 6,7 and 9 as three of them plus a stocky winger, a class centre and a forward or two.

Which then does beg the question is it a player issue rather the Radford?
An should Radford be allowed time to bring in the players that buy into his way of doing things?
It's a difficult situation the club has failed to manage over many years.
It requires a long term plan and direction, I actually though Gentle was that person, of course the minute the wheels fell off the rumours and the knives were out, possibly from inside the dressing room too? There certainly wasn't a shortage of fans calling in for his head.
So AP did what he thought was best and installed a local lad with pride in the shirt to try and bring the squad together.
So, either Radford is a totally inept coach or the some of the players just don't buy into his methods (which is what I think) or even worse its a combination of the both in which case we are loved.
Because that would mean an total overhaul of the team and a new coach which isn't gonna happen as we cant afford it.
In the end Radford therefore will pay the price as the manager always does, and the best we can hope for is we end up with some one akin to Pulis at Crystal Palace who can extract every bit out of every player and get results using the tools at his disposal.
Either way moaning on here wont solve a thing.
