Talanoa has been an excellent signing, a revelation, but I think saying he will become a legend is going too far.

I'm afraid this is what happens when a generation (or two) of fans grow up watching mediocre rugby, they think anyone who plays a little above average is a legend.

Unfortunately, bang on.

Depends what your definition of legend is I suppose. Do you base it on their ability or their service to the club? Peter Sterling is probably regarded as a legend by most if not all fans, but as good a player as he was does someone who only played 30 odd games for the club deserve that status?

its a great question and one which deserves its own thread. loads of ways you can look at it - impact on short term appearances, sheer number of appearances, longevity at the club etc. i've been going since 1978 and in that time the bone fide legends i have seen play in my opinion are

knocker
sterlo
crooks
topliss
kemble
leuluai
swain
possibly horne

i'm leaving prescott out as i want my selections to be based on their time with the club, but yeah he's obviously a legend for other more obvious reasons

and thats about it

IIRC Hull f.c has some sort of official legend/ roll of honour which was :-

Can't fault that list - Proper Legends!

Even though our `coach' has said he can't pass or catch.
I'd limit the damage - stick him on the wing & make sure no one passes to him.

Roy Francis was at the end of his playing career when he joined Hull from
Warrington. - Good centre, but his claim to fame was as a Legendary coach?

And who is to say Talanoa wont reach the legend status???

Legend is banded about too often, so is 'great' and 'world class', but I just think that Talanoa has everything in his armour to become a great at the club, its just whether he continues to improve and find that extra something

I've heard from a source (60/40 accurate TBH whether they happen or not) that S.Taylor and T.Leuluai are targets for FC recruitment next season.

I'd be happy with both of them, but I would look at James Green before Taylor. Not only do I think he has the potential to be better than Taylor, but he would be cheaper too.
