I saw his arm in the air on Friday and thought we'd got the penalty but think he just held it up for a while as it was last tackle (didn't see that much on Friday as the bloke in front of me jumped on his seat as soon as it happened icon_lol.gif )

He had awarded the turnover.

Is it true that Richard Agar's favorite movie of all time is Groundhog Day or does he just generally like the same boring s**t day after day, season after season?:10603.jpg

Quote: AaronBull "Just seen the highlights on Boots N All, well the ones Paul Cullen showed.

Complete lack of consistency re

Boots n all only managed to show a snippet of the delights that Child offered up on Friday night.

Quote: Wellsy13 "Just watched some of the replays on BBC. I can't say how infuriated I was that Isa didn't get binned for a grapple tackle on Lauaki that was clear as day, picked up by the touch judge, and caused a fracas, yet Radford got one in the first 5 minutes that confused everybody. That's the sort of inconsistent decision that infuriates fans and players and has a hugely significant impact on the game. It's such a massive swing of inconsistency that hugely benefits one club.

Talking to players constantly with warnings given but no actual punishments all game stopped momentum every time and did nothing to stop the problems, in fact added to them. The players in the end knew the ref wasn't going to do anything about anything other than talk, so they start taking things into their own hands. It's frustrating. In the end, it got a bit too much for Long, who apparently lost his head (nearly literally at one point), but that's what happens when officials are so poor.

Childs wasn't biased. He was just absolutely shocking.

In regards to Agar's fine, probably deserved it. Some of the things he said was so unprofessional and counter-productive. Speaking your mind might be admirable to some, but it doesn't get the job done. It rendered the official complaint useless as Agar had gotten so personal that he was the one that was going to cop for it. He might as well have just called him a c*nt to the cameras! If he'd have just said something along the lines of "We're going to put in an official complaint about the official to the RFL as myself and the players feel his performance was totally inconsistent and unacceptable and that is all I will say on the matter", then he may not have gotten into bother. He totally disrespected James Childs by ripping into him, and that is not what we need in our game.'"

Fair comments about Agar, but as I was leaving the ground on Friday night I did mention to my wife that I hoped Agar would have the balls to tell it like it was regarding the officiating of the match. Childs performance was so poor that it almost left Agar with no option than to slam the referee and I truly believe that Agar's reaction in the post match press conference was justified.

I now find it almost laughable that Agar is in bother for breaking the "REPECT" code or whaterever the RFL want to call it this week. When are the RFL going to respect not only coach's and players opinions and safety, but also the opinion of FANS. By taking no action against Child and sweeping it under the carpet and hoping that we will all forget about it, the RFL have managed to make this fan feel utterly disrespected as if feels that the RFL just feel that we are dumb c**ts that will accept anything.

Yes I heard that I think that was a bit of a Cullenism - ie Hull should have had the penalty but in the end Cas got it.

Far be it from me to defend Child icon_eek.gif but he was let down badly on 2 occasions by the same touch judge who first ran on and reported a high tackle on Lauaki (Child actually signaled this in one of the rare moments he signaled anything) when it was clearly a bad and deliberate choke tackle (sin bin) and also when he failed to see Long's head snapped back in the dash for the line at the end.

As per usual it's a combination of incompetent officiating, not just the referee. I'm not even sure what touch judges really do in the modern game. They definately don't come on the pitch as much as they did in the 80s for example. I know they are linked by radio now but what do they really do.

Our game definately needs investment in officiating as a number 1 priority, far more important than expanding the game for me.

Unless it's one of those where Agar cuts letters out of newspapers to spell the words. Hope he remembers to wear gloves otherwise he might get caught out like they do on the films!! icon_biggrin.gif

As you say, they are mic'd up, so there's not so much need for them to enter the field, they can communicate by radio.

TJs are still under the instruction of the referee and their input will depend on what the referee seems appropriate. By all means criticise TJs for missing an offence but remember, if they've seen it, they may have been instructed to do nothing but verbally report it over the radio

Ok, i'm happy to keep blaming Child then!! icon_lol.gif

As an aside, i'm interested in your view of the future of refereeing. Do you agree it needs serious investment?
