The BOD hadn't made anything like the same investment in Sharp as they have in Agar. Still - hope you're right.

But not a financial one if we got him on the cheap?
What is cheap for a SL coach? What's the range bottom to top of the current coaches? Anyone any idea? I can't imagine that , in the scheme of things , you're talking about life changing amounts of money? Would the extra over 3 years be more or less than we just spent on Westerman?

I think the same. I was as against the board appointing Agar as anyone but I've never really bought the idea that it's because he's cheap pretty much because of the reasons you outline.
I don't think the board's record on coaching appointments is quite as bad as some say. Bomber fell into our laps but it was a pretty successful regime (although we didn't win anything), on the back of that it wasn't unreasonable to try for a continuation through appointing his assistant (who was already a CC winner). Kear didn't really work out, but he got us a Challenge Cup and certainly wasn't an unmitigated disaster. Next they get Sharp who gets us to the GF and top 4 the year after before it ended badly.
I prefer to believe that the reason for Agar's seemingly never-ending reign of misery is down to an unfortunate convergence between the board making the policy decision that whoever replaced Sharp would get vastly improved working conditions, far more time than any of his predecessors and be backed to the hilt... and Richard Agar being able to convince them that he was the man for that job.
The type of appointment they make as Agar's successor will make clear whether that's the right way to see it or not.

| Interesting that it was reported that Ivan Henjak was paid off with three month's salary. Maybe Agar's contract has a termination notice period ? Probably not.

| If we/Hull end Agars contract because he isn't doing his job properly shown by the dire performances (fairly clear cut IMO) how is it that we have to pay him off?
Breach of contract terms I'd bleedin' well say, surely he must have had more warnings about HIS performance than Tansey did so why is he still here? Dismissal with no pay off surely the right & proper thing to do

Our defence would be better too.

| Replacing a coach now wouldn't make a lot of sense to the BOD. Season passes have been sold for this year and an appointment now, bearing in mind he'd have the same playing staff and injuries, would only allow enough time for the gloss to come off and not have the positive effect a coach change would have in say 3 or 4 months time.
SL is not like football where things like relegation, champions league qualification are worth so much money. Crowds may drop off a bit this year but even at the lowest they'll always have 9000 (not sure of the figure) season passes in the bank + walk ups (tere'll still be some) and the away fans, so 10,000 worth of income is more or less guaranteed.
Ifits still going wrong come May, then they'll appoint a new coach the fans will get a surge of interest and season passes will be renewed, shirts bought etc for the following season.

But May is still 6/7 months away from being able to renew or purchase a new shirt. Can't see what difference that would make!!!

It is but giving a new coach the job now effectively gives him a full season to succeed or fail, if its the former then all is rosey, if he has a mediocre or poor season the gloom factor will kick in and things will be the same as now before the passes etc go on sale.
If Agar is left to carry on, picking up say a 40 - 50% win ratio (or even worse) and then removed nearer the end of the season you will instill an instant feel good factor going into the media hype for 2012.

Money talks, most fans will not tolerate this until May, they will make a stance where it hurts and stay away, the club will soon act then
3 wins from the last 10 games

We have a good squad, if a good coach came in now we would be up there imo.

It does but the lions share of money is already in the bank, some will still walk up and away fans will be unaffected or maybe increased if fans think they have more of a chance of a win.
The natives are very restless but they will stick with it for a few weeks, your next home games are crusaders, wakey and cas. All winnable games and as the majority don't go away they are likely to have seen 3 wins from 4 home games. Will take more than that for fans to not go. Leeds was a skewed attendance, off the back of a bad result and on Sky, would have been higher if not televised.

You still have a ver thin squad and with injury prone halfs it will take a superstar of a coach to really be anything better thanyou did last year
