Played on the rugby specific 3G at York St John a few weeks ago and it wasn't that bad, certainly allowed faster rugby even in the rain. The scrapes weren't anywhere near as bad as what you get off bone dry thin grass pitches.

| The bookies say:
Wigan
Saints
Wire
Leeds
Cats
Hudds
Salford
Hull
Cas
KR
Widnes
Wakey
Leeds 4th seems a stretch but all the bookies seem to agree that they are a street better than Catalan.

| First 6 games are crucial. Any points in the first 4 games should be a bonus compared to last year's same fixtures. 4 points from 8 would be a great start seeing we have Huddersfield, Warrington, Salford and wigan

We play Leeds before Wigan but I agree I agree 4 points from 8 should be the aim, but as always the manner of the defeats counts, I don't expect a win at Wigan for example but I won't accept another 56-10 debacle like last year. So long as we pick up some points and show we improving I'm happy.

Bookies only put out initial odds to get the ball rolling. Once punters start putting money on the odds change to take the relative support onto account. They might lose in respect of an individual team but ensure they win overall. In a league their initial predictions are relatively unimportant.
You can only have a bit of what they are on by being a bookie yourself and manipulating the odds to your own advantage.

| I have a mate who is a professional gambler. Whenever I question the odds on something he says "Do you know something the bookies don't? Then they know something you don't."
If anyone think the professionals don't know what they are talking about then they can always go over to an exchange betting site and offer their own odds.

Yes we do. The make-up of the KR team was not known when the Bookies made the initial odds. Making odds for a season competition is different to those for a one off match. Bookies are generally quite accurate when deciding which teams will fall into the middle band but the actual order is more often than not way out.

Upon realising rovers astounding recruitment, those bookies must have been distraught over not being able to change the odds.

| Lies, damned lies and.....
2014 - Hull had the 6th best defence, the 8th best attack, scored the 8th most tries and finished 11th losing 6 matches by 6 points or less and drawing two.
Marc Sneyd had the second most try assists (30), scored 6 and kicked the most goals (99 - missed 30) and dropped 2 goals. Leon Pryce was joint 21st on try assists with 15 and scored 4. So Sneyd and Pryce together created 45 straight tries and scored 10.
All of Hull's goal kickers together kicked 89 goals and missed 38 so Sneyd beat them on his own and arguably those 10 goals difference (20 points) could have meant more points in the league.
I know these are mere statistics but I think that having us finish 8th and lower is pretty pessimistic when you see what those two are replacing.
Hull's half-backs in 2014 created 37 tries and scored 20 (perhaps not fair to call Heremaia a half-back)
Jordan Rankin - 13 try assists and 9 tries
Richard Horne - 10 and 5
Aaron Heremaia - 9 and 2
Jacob Miller - 3 and 3
Jordan Abdull - 2 and 1
(Westerman scored one drop goal)

Just think how well we'd have done with a proper coach...
it's all speculation, you can apply the same to almost any club, ATEOTD we lost the close games, didn't score enough & wimpered out the CC against a bang average Salford side.
Yes we have a better team this year but can that be translated into results, that's never a given, I think us finishing 8th is a realistic guess considering we have yet more new personnel (not bedded in esecially in the halves), an inexperienced coach and plenty of other teams with very good squads.

| Found it, pretty much all hull fans have us 6th-8th, not surprisingly most fans were wrong and are not missing in action Keith and rupert were are you?
Some other shocking predictions, who said Leeds wouldn't finish in the top 8!!!
