| Quote Rock God X="Rock God X"Agree with that, but ability wise they're miles apart, IMO.'"
Don't think the gap's as big as you do, personally. On top of which, the comparison bears no relevance at all. At that time SL was an attractive proposition financially for NRL players, it isn't any longer. Seymour may not be as good as some halves who have come over in the past, but I think there'll be few better coming over in the near future.
And I'll make the same point I have previously on this subject, most SL sides do not have 2 top quality halfbacks, they have one with a good to very good partner. I doubt very much that any side except Catalan will have 2 better halfbacks than Seymour next year, so it's about who we pair him with, not who we replace him with.

| The Dykes comparison was made by the OP. I was merely responding.

Fair enough. I still don't think they're 'miles apart' though. Dykes did have the benefit of mainly managing to be fit for a cup run in which we played sh*t teams until the final, so I sometimes think he's remembered as being better than he actually was. In the 12 league games he played we managed 3 wins against the might of Cas (the only team who finished below us that year), Huddersfield (the team directly above us), and Wakey (nosebleed territory here, a whopping 5 places from bottom). In terms of percentages, we had a better win ratio without him than we did with him (in the league).
IMO Dykes is one of those players who people remember how good he could have been rather than how good he was, for one reason or another.

| I think he's doing a good job for us, but he desperately needs some help alongside him.
I'm not convinced by Russell, Ellis was shocking today and we play with 2 ball playing 13s but use them as extra back rowers, meaning he's the only option.
He did have a 5 minute mad spell for Washy's try when he tried a banana kick straight down cockends throat, gave away a penalty then stepped aside for Washy to walk through.

He's put in some great defensive efforts this season. His effort on Washy was poor but so was Whitings on Amor. Plenty of players missed tackles. Tickle got done at marker for one try for example.

I will not dispute that he has put some decent defensive stints in, overall though I am still undecided about him, his kicking game is very average, however after seeing him against Leeds with Whiting I like many believe he needs a decent 6 with him, hopefully he will get that next season and prove his worth.

| His kicking was as bad as I've seen at Hull FC, his defense was poor and his attack was un-inventive. He looked like a watered down version of Rich Horne, who would be absolutely hung out to dry if he'd played like that yesterday.

| Seymour is crap, as is Horne, but the same people have been making excuses for the pair of them all season, and most of Horne's career, neither will win trophies.

That's the key, getting him a good partner to work with.

Rubbish. If you think Seymour is crap you've clearly not been watching us.

I've seen enough to know he isn't a world class halfback, he's average, and that is being generous.
It seems many FC fans have only really seen us in Super League, they don't remember what a joy it was to have players like Entat and Mackey, Hasler et al. TRUE halfbacks. (and I am sure IanP/cod'ead will provide memories of even better players from before them)
