More than that. You forgot to add interest and living expenses.

| Quote: Kosh "Wrong again.
For a start, the average graduate starting salary is >£25k so the 'you don't pay anything back until...' argument falls at the first hurdle. For a second, because of the way interest is now added to the loan a graduate who stays at an average salary grade throughout his career will pay back a lot more than someone who earns a packet. That figure of >80k total was calculated [ibased[/i on an average student with an average career.
Your only chance to pay less under the new system is to either be rich enough to not need a loan, become rich enough to pay the loan off quickly, or be poor enough to get support. The [iaverage[/i student is getting screwed over.'"
unfortunately, due to the currently economy, the average starting salary for a graduate is more in the 18-20k bracket (trust me), and graduate unemployment is at around 20%, those people (the majority) will only be paying inflationary levels of interest, which means that the their loan stays at the same real level as when they borrowed it

Indeed, and said lust has also meant the shoddy compromise of AV will get voted down and we'll not see PR within 10 years.

I am sure when (if) he is a successful lawyer coining in £££££££££££'s he wont begrudge having to invest in himself.
Hell, maybe he'll even go to a few lectures and not spend the first year peeing his money up against a wall?

I hope that a positive consequence of this is that people do start taking it more seriously, and stop ing around, a large majority of students (myself included) took the opportunity to the first few years up the wall

Presumably Clegg thinks it was all worth it for the referendum, when he gets a nice car, ministerial salary, protection officers and a staff of civil servants (he has a Principal Private Secretary, 3 Private Secretaries and 4 Assistant Private Secretaries in his own office according to the Cabinet Office website) to do his work for him.
Sellout of the highest order

I am going to Hull Uni in Sept, thankfully as my degree is Mental Health Nurse my 2 years will be paid for...I did however pay for the last degree. I really feel for people going to Uni now though it is certainly not made easy for them.

then I don't understand his issue with having to pay for it, once he is earning enough.
the total hysteria being whipped up about all this is a bit of a joke

| I am more sympathetic to Clegg, surely it is better to be on the inside trying to change things, than to be on the outside shouting in?
