| Quote: garry brindley "Maybe that would work, but aside from being a decent scout I'm really not sure what 'strengths' Agar has to concentrate on.
ATEOTD we've had 3 years of Agar trying to get the formula right. We've had a 'back to basics' pre-season training one year and modern techniques the next. We've had the write-off season and the 'Season of Promise'. We've had the squad clear-out and we've had the 'continuity' off-season. We've had 3 different assistant coaches and spent three different transfer fees. We've tried 'aiming up', 'raising the bar' and 'having more smarts on the island'. He's had more time than any coach of a club of FC's size could reasonably expect, and not once has he even managed to equal the achievements of his immediate predecessors.
We've tried pretty much everything except replacing the Head Coach, it just makes no sense to allow him even more time to play around with the management structure. Especially when there's an opportunity to replace him with someone who has a proven track record of turning around under-achieving clubs waiting on the sidelines.'"
Sums it up for me.

| Quote: garry brindley " Agar is being judged by the fans on the three years he's had in charge, to try and pretend otherwise is really a bit of an insult to the fan's intelligence.'"
I disagree, I think he's been judged on the last 10 years. Many Hull fans seem to be stuck in 2006, and think we should still be contesting finals, in reality we are not a top class side anymore, we are a side in a building phase. Agar took over the job when the side was a total mess and as far as I can see he has made steady progress whilst he's been charge. Nobody can deny that last year was a leap forward regardless of how we finished and he hasn't been given a chance yet as far as this season goes.
Fitzgibbon isn't thick, he's played for the top coaches in the best teams in the world and knows what makes a good and bad coach, he also doesn't strike me as being a liar so when he says Agar is respected and he believes in his methods I have no reason to doubt him. Let's see how we're doing at Easter and decide then whether or not he can take us any further.

You're entitled to your opinion, personally I havn't written him off yet and think he deserves to at least show us what his full strength team are capable of, again, if 10 games in we are still off the pace then I say time to go.

However, a strong culture in within a club has got to be developed by all of the leadership team and experienced players and then bought into by everybody else. James Webster is a frightening disciplinarian which is the reason Sean Long doesnt get on with him. tbf,i got told this morning, that Longy has been telling friends in St Helens he is leaving hull?he is supposed to have said that tomorrow is his last game

What do you expect Fitz to say? "I'm with the fans, Agar's out of his depth and the sooner he's gone the better". It's typical towing the party line commenting and I've read very little into it.
I also disagree with your rebuilding comments; Agar has had three seasons and the rugby has not improved and the match day experience is the same today as it was when he started - dire, very dire!
Nathan Brown, Tony Smith and Michael Mcguire et al have proven it doesn't take 3 seasons to turn big clubs around.

Wouldnt surprise me. He isnt a very popular character within the camp and he has in particular lost the respect of the young players at Hull due to his aloofness

You sound like James rule putting spin on Agars pathetic attempt to make us a top club. We have heard it isnt his team but Maguire,Smith and Brown have done wonders with what wasnt there team in much less time then Agar. And he has had players out and it isnt his fault Well the buck stops with him this year he knew about long and horne and still didnt find anyone. Although other coaches didnt have a problem when they went looking for a quality half.
The Squad isnt balanced and he buys a looseforward(and plays him 2nd rower yes we short there arnt we) when we need a half and a hooker and dont get me started with his interchanges.
Add to the fact we play the most dire rugby in the league and you want to give him more time
How many play off games has Agar won in his time in charge since taking over from Sharp?

Lordy. Wakey's bench hooker becomes our first choice 7.

First of all, dire is a strong word to use, in reality we are probably slap bang in the middle of the league when it comes to quality of our play, there are plenty of better sides, but we are a long long way from being the worst. Secondly the three coaches you mentioned (argueably Brown aside) took over clubs with much better players than Agar had when he took over us and they havn't had the bad luck that Agar has had. Wigan were on the verge of something great anyway and Warrington, despite underachieving, had a quality squad and it was probably Lowes' ineptitude that held them back.
I agree that Fitz, especially as captain, has to be proffesional and back his coach and team mates, but I also think his comments are genuine, he has spoken highly of Agar since he came here and whilst he's not going to come out and lay into Agar I don't think he would talk him up so much if he didn't believe what he was saying.

when i was first told,i thought it was to go back to saints, but apparently, that isn't the case,as he will just pack up now!!he has said he thought he would have more input regarding coaching,as most of us were under the impression, this was meant to happen, but obv not.Don't know anything about him falling out with webster, and my saints friend, said he has never mentioned james,so admit in that respect i know nothing, but i believe my friend saying what she did.Gary Wheeler is on a booze warning there too(tanseyesque!!!!)

You put Agar in charge of any of them three teams and they would have gone backwards for sure. Agar is totally out of his depth
