He does list Cats. Cats are Wildcats. Catalans are Dragons. It's not hard.
I would expect HFC to be finishing higher than Wakey though, despite the slip up against the Reds.'"
Don't be a Not that word thanks - Chris all your life!! He clearly means Catalan when he refers to Cats

| Amazing - so you can see into the future. Hmm...
I'd rather deal with the here and now. Less than 24 hours ago you were beaten in a real, actual, competitive match, so I would guess that means you are currently not as good as Salford. You may have more fans and a better ground. But what a lot of your fans seem to lack is a sense of respect for the opposition and an acceptance of your true position. We fans of 'lesser' clubs have had to learn the hard way, unfortunately, to lose with dignity, something which you may have to get used to - especially with McRae in charge

I'd be happy to put my money where my mouth is. Shall we say the person whose club finishes lower will pay £20 to the Steve Prescott fund? There's no way Salford will be higher than Hull. You'll be lucky to finish above Wakefield.
Oh, and, Gentle. Peter Gentle.

I shall give you the benefit of the doubt and assume the missing word is "pedant".
It is not pedantic to expect clubs to be called by their correct names.
You Shark fans should understand this better than most!

If that be the case, why did you yourself call Wakey, Wakey, instead of their 'proper' name, in your opinion, cats? Cats are Catalan, Wakey are Wakey and you sir, are a Rassclart.

Glad to see you follow this ethos in choosing your own name.
The abbreviation for the proper place name Wakefield is indeed "Wakey".
The suffix nickname is Wildcats, abbreviated to 'Cats, or indeed "the Cats".
This follows with "the Dragons", "the Rhinos" and Rovers, Giants etc. etc. etc.
Or did you, last night, play "the Sals"?
Is it too much to ask for the Dragons to be known as Dragons???
I sense you are the type of person who says "Catalan S" and that you think that it is unnecessary to teach and assess spelling and grammar in schools these days!

I famously like a bit of pedantry, but this is pushing things a tad. Very few people refer to Wakey as 'the Cats' or any variation thereof, whereas many people have been referring to the Dragons as 'Les Cats' (the 's' being used in a plural sense) since their inception. It was pretty obvious who he meant, especially in the context in which the phrase was used.

It's not pedantry though, is it? You feel it ok to use the wrong words/information, as long as [iyou[/i know what you mean?
Whether or not people generally refer to the Wildcats as "Cats", is irrelevant (though the Hull fans do seem t like drinking in the Cats Bar on their visits to BV).
If a club is called Catalans Dragons, call them "Catalans Dragons", "Catalans" or "Dragons"! They are clearly not the "Catalans Cats"
What's the point of having rules of language?*
* No need to answer that - I've just seen the GCSE English Language results for Hull.

Exactly!!
The other clubs aren't referred to as "the Lee's", "the Lon's", "the Wids", "the Bra's" (as hilarious as that would be), "the Wigs" (hang on, this is more fun than I thought)...

Yes. Yes it is.

When trying to make a point involving pedantry, I find it's best to double-check posts like this before hitting submit. Can you spot the error you've made here?
1, Expecting the conventions of language to be followed is not pedantry.
2, No, you've lost me.
Gotta split n get reddy to watch the Wak's and the Bra's now M8. Ya get me bro?
Sweet.

It is when following them or not makes no difference to the ability to comprehend. This is especially true for a medium such as a messageboard.

In English, Les Dragons Catalans translates to The Catalan Dragons. You drop the terminal 's' from their location. Although to be fair to you this is a rule that isn't followed consistently, even on the Dragons own website.
