Difficult to get a visa for them though, so unless it is a reserve grader with Islander heritage/passport it isn't straightforward.
There's a real shortage of good halfs now. While the likes of Jamie Ellis, Kyle Briggs and Gareth Moore didn't really cut it, as the standard falls players like them become better in relative terms.

Would you dare wait that long? We find a buyer late on and your options narrow again. We're much more saleable with him on board, so we'll hold on as long as possible - unless, as has been acknowledged, an NRL club offers him a deal.

Go on, sell us Dobbo. You know you want to really
On a serious note, agree with what you say regarding the problems with NRL reserve graders and the overall shortage of good halves. And those clubs with them will fight tough and nail to keep them.
I just hope the club don't panic and go for the first available half. With some luck Holdsworth will be back soon and Horne has been outstanding so far this season so we don't need to rush.

Short term, possibly G O B of Warrington, probably would depend on when Briers is back.

Could be 2 + 2 making 5, but his increasing injury absences + being given a coaching role have me wondering if a retirement announcement is nearing. Especially with Myler moving up a level this year and looking more like an all-round halfback now.
Sneyd would be one I'd hope we keep an eye/ear out for.

O'Carroll and Ellis British equivalents, too.

Had the same thought about Briers. 34 now isn't he?

Yeah, and will be 35 before the season is out. Hodgson another who can't be far away, so could well be Myler and O'Brien in the halves with Ratchford their permanent fullback before too long.

| Sad that it has turned out like this, he's been very complimentary about the Club, staff, players, fans and the city as a whole.
I wish him very well in his recovery and hope he and his family can come back one day and catch a game. He'll be very welcome.

Not bad at all. Then there are the Clark rumours too. Could be a changing of several of the guards in their pivots, and the best thing for them is that they all have a good few years in them. Slightly reminiscent of the Sinfield/McGuire/Burrow emergence that has done so well for Leeds.
I actually think that it's now probably in Wire's best interests to let at least one of Briers or Hodgson go. They don't tend to play enough games to justify their likely wedge (although Hodgson is having a surprising run so far this year), and if they do both get fit it would be a bit harsh to leave either Myler or Ratchford out given how they've been performing. Hodgson is also looking increasingly iffy defensively IMO.

| Not surprised at this news but glad its been sorted and Brett can now focus on what matters.
Was hoping at the start of the year that he would have a fresh start and be able to build a good half back pairing with Holdsworth but wasn't to be. When I saw that he was playing against Widnes I was glad that he was getting a chance after not playing since Leeds and hoping that he would have a good game. It wasn't to be but he tried and did leave some good memories of his time at Hull FC, for me anyway
